While we study complex texts and literary analysis, students also need access to high-interest books that remind them reading can be fun. Completing our collection of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series gives students a familiar, accessible option that draws in even the most reluctant readers. These books are often the \"gateway\" that rebuilds reading confidence for students who may feel intimidated by longer or more traditional novels.\r\n\r\nWhen students choose books they genuinely enjoy, their reading stamina increases. They read longer, talk about books more often, and begin to see themselves as readers. Graphic-heavy novels like Diary of a Wimpy Kid support comprehension through visual context clues, helping students strengthen inference skills and narrative understanding without feeling overwhelmed. Having a complete set ensures students can follow the series in order, sustain engagement, and share recommendations with peers—fostering a classroom reading community.\r\n\r\nThe scent plug-ins may seem small, but classroom environment matters deeply for middle schoolers. A clean, welcoming space helps students feel comfortable and ready to learn. Many of our students come from busy, stressful environments; walking into a calm, fresh-smelling classroom creates a subtle but powerful sense of care and belonging. When students feel physically comfortable, they are more willing to take academic risks, participate in discussion, and focus on their work.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is choice and atmosphere. They light up when they see books they recognize and want to read. They also notice when their classroom feels inviting and intentional. These resources work together to create a space where students feel valued, engaged, and motivated to grow as readers.","fullyFundedDate":1765671776939,"projectUrl":"project/fresh-supplies-wimpy-kid-books-engag/9956585/","projectTitle":"Fresh Supplies + Wimpy Kid Books = Engaged Readers","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Myers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9186896_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760630836270","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9186896"},{"teacherId":9186896,"projectId":9955803,"letterContent":"In our 8th grade ELA classroom, technology is an essential tool for literacy growth. Students regularly engage with digital novels, audiobooks, online articles, research databases, and writing platforms. Headphones allow students to access these resources independently and without distraction. For many of my students, especially striving readers and multilingual learners, listening to an audiobook while following along in the text improves comprehension, vocabulary acquisition, and fluency. It also allows them to hear tone, pacing, and emotion modeled effectively—skills that directly strengthen their own reading and writing.\r\n\r\nHeadphones also support differentiated instruction. Students can watch short instructional videos, participate in targeted skill practice, or conference with me virtually without disrupting others. In a middle school classroom where focus can be challenging, providing each student with personal audio equipment creates a more structured and productive learning environment. It ensures equitable access to learning tools for students who may not have reliable technology resources at home.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part for students is the sense of independence and ownership. When they plug in their headphones, they immediately feel like they are in control of their learning. They love being able to immerse themselves in a story, tune into a podcast, or revise their writing with embedded feedback without outside noise. It feels modern, relevant, and engaging to them. Something as simple as a pair of headphones transforms our classroom into a space where every student can focus, explore ideas deeply, and build confidence as readers and writers.","fullyFundedDate":1765650129833,"projectUrl":"project/tsas-8th-grade-ela-headphones/9955803/","projectTitle":"TSAS 8th Grade ELA Headphones","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Myers","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9186896_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760630836270","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9186896"},{"teacherId":5522064,"projectId":9868288,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for supporting our geometry classroom through DonorsChoose! Because of your generosity, my students now have access to materials that transform geometry from something abstract on paper into something they can see, touch, build, and truly understand.\r\n\r\nWith the hot glue sticks, basswood sheets, felt, cotton fabric squares, and scissors you provided, students are designing and constructing three-dimensional models to explore concepts like surface area, volume, similarity, and geometric transformations. Instead of only memorizing formulas, they are physically building prisms, pyramids, and composite figures, then measuring, cutting, revising, and problem-solving along the way. These hands-on experiences help geometry \"click\" for students who may struggle with traditional instruction.\r\n\r\nThe variety of colorful fabrics allows students to clearly distinguish faces, edges, and cross sections, while also encouraging creativity and pride in their work. The mesh zipper pouches help us stay organized and ensure materials are easily shared and reused, supporting collaboration and responsibility in the classroom. The sticker paper lets students label models, create nets, and annotate their thinking, reinforcing mathematical vocabulary and precision.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, these materials create an environment where learning feels active, engaging, and joyful. Students are working together, talking about math, testing ideas, and learning that mistakes are part of the design process. For many of them, this is the first time math feels tangible and accessible.\r\n\r\nYour support sends a powerful message to my students: that their learning matters and that people beyond our classroom believe in their potential.
