We had asked for some 3 x 5 cards and some colored pencils to help us produce cards with better images, and graphics. The students have really enjoyed those and I wanted to let you know what we were doing and how it was going.\r\n\r\nThe first thing we do is take our list of our vocabulary words and for each card, write the word, the definition, a synonym, an antonym, and a sentence that uses the word correctly. On the other side of the card, we draw a picture that reminds the student what the word means. Because we have the colored pencils are quite colorful and very illuminating to the students who write them. We have really enjoyed adding the pictorial expression to our flashcards. We then play a game, where I roll a die, choose a word off the list from that roll, and then roll another day to see what will do with it. If I roll in one, the student must give a definition, a two they give a synonym, three - an antonym, four, they draw the item on the board, and five they act out the item or description. If they roll a number six, they have to give a good sentence. I've been mixing the students up into groups and having them compete group against group for the extra points, the winners get extra credit and sometimes a treat. \r\n\r\nOne thing I have noticed right out of the gate is a great improvement in our quiz scores. Many of them aced their first vocabulary quiz. Even those who did not, got very high marks of nine out of 10 9 1/2 out of 10, etc. What this tells me is that these cards are really helping the students to learn the words. They are enjoying making these cards, are keeping them more often, and can study for other tests and finals with them.\r\n\r\nSo I want to thank you very much for the donation of these items. I have 120 students and each needs 10 to 20 cards for each set. Your gift has allowed me to continue with this practice. So thank you again for contributing to the education of our Trinity High School students and helping them to prepare for their futures!","fullyFundedDate":1753886084149,"projectUrl":"project/colorful-vocabulary-game-cards/9469169/","projectTitle":"Colorful Vocabulary Game Cards","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Zook","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10047014"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_40414","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":290,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":73,"percentIndigenous":4,"percentLatinx":8,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"15.3:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":40414,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Trinity High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Trinity High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/trinity-alps-unified-school-district/trinity-high-school/40414"}
