The Strawbees STEAM sets have helped students to learn more about moving objects, such as levers and how different animals move such as wings, tails, and fins.\r\n\r\nFor some of my students, being able to use something they are already familiar with, such as the bit boards we already had, with something new means that they are already comfortable with the technology that we're using, and just adding a new layer. This is incredibly important to the success that my students experience with new technology in the classroom. Adding a new layer means that they are more willing to try something new because it's not completely overwhelming when being introduced.\r\n\r\nFinally, the Strawbees and the STEAM kits are accessible to almost every student who comes to class. I don't have to worry that students with reach restrictions or other needs won't be able to use the Strawbees, and that's the biggest win that I could hope for.\r\nWhen every student can participate, they all win.","fullyFundedDate":1757589171215,"projectUrl":"project/our-stem-moves-it-like-that/9687050/","projectTitle":"Our STEM Moves it Like That!","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Adamson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7449775_orig.jpg?crop=705,705,x0,y16&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661022684919","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7449775"},{"teacherId":7449775,"projectId":9553761,"letterContent":"My students will be using the Chomp Saw to create cardboard arcade projects combined with electronics to create games. I have students with limited reach and grasping abilities who were very excited that they could participate with their peers.\r\nThe next steps for this project include brainstorming more ways for students to use the chomp saw in class.\r\nWe are also very thankful for the basic supplies like the lysol wipes, as they keep our chromebooks sanitized. Students are able to engage with one another, participate socially, and have a space that they can interact with other middle schools while doing something that they enjoy.\r\nWhile esports may not be the first thing that comes to mind when thinking about social emotional learning, it's amazing the difference and impact that has been made by making space for esports. The academic impact hasn't been lost either! Students want to keep their academics where they need to be so that they can hang out and socialize with classmates after school, and getting to spend time listening to our students laugh with one another and congratulate one another on a good game, as well as congratulate opponents when our students lose a game here and there, is incredible.\r\nThose moments wouldn't be taking place without the support of our donors and we are so very thankful for those moments, and you.","fullyFundedDate":1741272209078,"projectUrl":"project/switching-out-social-emotional-learning/8927077/","projectTitle":"Switching Out Social Emotional Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Dr. Adamson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7449775_orig.jpg?crop=705,705,x0,y16&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1661022684919","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7449775"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_71441","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":381,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":73,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":89,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":5,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"15.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":90.0,"schoolId":71441,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tri-County Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tri-County Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/michigan/tri-county-area-school-district/tri-co-middle-school/71441"}
