With new curriculum, comes new challenges. These materials are assisting in the accessing of STEM project based learning goals. \r\nThe Chompsaw has given students the biggest thrill! \"We are using a saw?!?\" Yes, and it is child safe. Not all students have had a chance yet, but third graders and 5th graders have been so enthusiastic about the challenge to build something out of cardboard. I did have to implement a timer, so that more students were able to access the tool during our 60 minute once a week class. While my littlest learners (preK & K) have not used the Chompsaw, they are loving the Blockaroo sets. I have had tears at the end of exploration stations because students do not want to stop working with them. I never knew they existed, but as an adult, I enjoy building creative structures with them too. \r\nThird graders will build a \"fantastic contraption\" next marking period and the Chompsaw will be a tool that they can utilize during their create time. Second graders will have the opportunity to access the machine during their pinball project module. \r\n\r\nWho would have thought that students would LOVE to get their hands involved using a cardboard saw? I think I need another one or two in the classroom. Thank you again for supporting my project based learning classroom as it transitions to STEM.","fullyFundedDate":1743906691965,"projectUrl":"project/stemifying-tripleeee/9202145/","projectTitle":"STEMifying TripleEEE","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Lewis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp1010709_orig.jpg?crop=328,328,x260,y46&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1723046063109","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/deale-lewis"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_64196","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":448,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":53,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":35,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"17.9:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":70.6,"schoolId":64196,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tracey's Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tracey's Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/maryland/anne-arundel-county-public-schools/tracey-s-elementary-school/64196"}
