The sensory and social tools provided by this grant have already made a tremendous difference for my students. The Boomwhackers, liquid floor tiles, theraputty, stack-and-build soft blocks, and wiggle feet cushions have become integral to our daily routines. One special moment was during a sensory break when students eagerly explored the liquid floor tiles and wiggle feet cushions. These tools provided the sensory input they needed to refocus, while the Boomwhackers encouraged teamwork as students created rhythms together. These activities have been vital in helping students engage socially while meeting their sensory needs.\r\n\r\nThe reactions from my students when they first saw the materials were heartwarming. One student was thrilled, exclaiming, \"This is the coolest floor ever!\" as they stepped onto the liquid tiles, while others immediately began exploring the sounds of the Boomwhackers. These tools have brought joy and curiosity to our classroom, helping students feel comfortable and excited to learn. As we move forward, I plan to incorporate these materials into structured activities, such as group projects with the soft blocks and fine motor exercises using the theraputty. These activities will promote collaboration, communication, and creativity while continuing to address sensory needs.\r\n\r\nYour support has not only enhanced the learning environment but also helped bridge the social and sensory gaps caused by the pandemic. Many of our students, especially those with special needs, faced challenges in developing social skills during Covid-19. These resources have provided a meaningful way to rebuild those skills, foster trust, and strengthen connections in our classroom. Thank you for making such a lasting impact on my students' lives.","fullyFundedDate":1691881328121,"projectUrl":"project/hands-on-learning-with-our-senses/7657695/","projectTitle":"Hands-on Learning With Our Senses!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Fierro","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp2390085_orig.jpg?crop=540,540,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1602278207701","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/fierrotipton"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_87362","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":154,"numTeachers":11,"percentFrplEligible":74,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":45,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":31,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"14.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":76.3,"schoolId":87362,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tipton Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tipton Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oklahoma/tipton-public-schools/tipton-elementary-school/87362"}
