As someone who was greatly impacted by the books he read in high school, I am a major proponent of exposing students to as many strong texts as possible. Especially as my seniors approach their final year of high school, the ability to engage texts that ask them to reflect on their own experiences and explore new ones is critical. \r\n\r\nYour donation has supported my students as they learned about literary elements in a book club setting. Students were able to use your text in order to search for highly literary events like baptisms, communion, flight, and weather patterns in order to learn how authors develop complex themes. The books you donated money for were instrumental in getting students to think at these critical and deeper levels. \r\n\r\nThe big winners this semester were Ocean Voung's On Earth We Are Briefly Gorgeous and Isabelle Allende's The House of Spirits. Students really appreciated the cyclical nature of each of these texts and the discussion around generational trauma and the power of literature to bring memory to life. \r\n\r\nAgain, I can't thank you enough for your contribution to this project. You are helping to bolster my classroom library in a meaningful way. By providing my students with texts that challenge them, affirm their experiences, and entertain them, you are making my classroom a place where students can be changed and inspired. You are making a difference in hundreds of students' lives.","fullyFundedDate":1755223868160,"projectUrl":"project/diverse-texts-for-modern-literature/9564386/","projectTitle":"Diverse Texts for Modern Literature","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Jasica","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9256238_orig.jpg?crop=774,774,x239,y16&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755029220657","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9256238"},{"teacherId":5470425,"projectId":9015618,"letterContent":"I am genuinely so thankful for your gift that allowed me to get some additional supplies for my ELO classes. Students are loving the opportunity to learn in a new and refreshing way. The board games were all new to students, and some of them have started inviting friend from other ELOs to come and play in my room. This has been a great way to engage socially and academically, especially since our school is now phone free.\r\n\r\nThe snacks are also a big help, of course. Sometimes, hunger is the root issue of why a student is struggling, and they are encouraged and energized by having a snack to power through to the end of the day, and I appreciate your help in allowing me to provide these for my students.\r\n\r\nELO is a brighter class at the end of the day because of your giving, and I'm so thankful for that!","fullyFundedDate":1735944056196,"projectUrl":"project/extend-the-learning-opportunities/9015618/","projectTitle":"Extend the Learning Opportunities!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sullwold","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5470425"},{"teacherId":3608358,"projectId":8416193,"letterContent":"We just finished our Beading unit in Native American Humanities and I am so impressed with the art that the students created. For those of you who don't know, I started learning Native American beadwork five years ago. It is a hobby that I enjoy doing in my free time and I was so excited to share this art style with my students. \r\n\r\nI introduced them to the flat stitch style of beadwork and we used the materials that were purchased with your donations to create a variety of flat stitch patches, barrettes, and keychains. It was incredible to experience the cultural exchange of sharing something so near and dear to my heart with students. \r\n\r\nThis experience will give students perspective and appreciation for the art of beadwork, especially when we attend our local powwow in a couple of weeks. We are also looking forward to using some of the books in a book study unit to close out our semester. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your support in helping get this class off the ground and providing students with experiences they will remember for a lifetime!","fullyFundedDate":1716477568020,"projectUrl":"project/native-american-humanities-honoring-th/8416193/","projectTitle":"Native American Humanities - Honoring the Contemporary Experience","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Bitsie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp3608358_orig.jpg?crop=2448,2448,x0,y146&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1716239859124","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3608358"},{"teacherId":9228937,"projectId":9003823,"letterContent":"I am writing to thank you for donating to our class project.
