I do not feel it would be restful for them to be on the bare, cold floor, on the class rug, or lay with their heads on their desks.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for giving them a nice surface to rest, so they can wake up energized for our afternoon of learning and fun!","fullyFundedDate":1746786951285,"projectUrl":"project/prek-needs-mats-for-rest-time/9309468/","projectTitle":"PreK Needs Mats for Rest Time!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jenny Coffey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8601583_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660090385440","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/j-coffey"},{"teacherId":8601583,"projectId":9311506,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for these amazing resources! They have added so much to our STEAM time by promoting engagement, critical thinking, and creativity. \r\n\r\nI use a light table to add opportunities for science and exploration, as it always draws the students' attention. But with your generosity, now I have materials that allow them to make patterns and sort with the table, sort the translucent buttons and hearts by shape and/or color, and build with the translucent cubes. \r\n\r\nThe brick block mats are so cool, and we use them to build letters, numbers, and shapes, as well as fine motor strength.\r\n\r\nThe art materials have been amazing as well. With the card stock we have been able to create directed draws and more sturdy pieces of art. The skinny, Pip Squeak markers are just perfect for this age group, as their hands are so small and they do not have the strength yet to hold regular sized writing utensils.\r\n\r\nWith the dry erase boards and markers, we now have whole group writing lessons, where I am able to engage each child and monitor their letter formation and grasp as we write letters and draw images on our SmartBoard.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for providing to our class, where there is such a great need for materials to foster oral language, critical thinking, and a love of learning.","fullyFundedDate":1746457403108,"projectUrl":"project/bilingual-prek-promoting-literacy-and-s/9311506/","projectTitle":"Bilingual PreK: Promoting Literacy and Steam Skills in Early Childhood","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jenny Coffey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8601583_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660090385440","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/j-coffey"},{"teacherId":8601583,"projectId":8998650,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for giving my class the gift of color ink! PreK is all about building vocabulary, and color ink really helps the students to engage more with the materials I make. They can see the color, texture, and detail of the image, which aids their understanding of what the item is, how it looks, and how it is similar and different to other objects. \r\n\r\nIn addition, many of my students have visual impairments, so the color and contrast really helps their learning. \r\n\r\nI have printed so many quality materials with this ink and laminated them, so I will be able to use them for years and years. These materials have been absolutely AMAZING! Thanks to you, my bilingual early learners at a Title 1 school have been immersed in a word of STEAM concepts, critical thinking, and language development.\r\n\r\nThe students have really loved learning about motion and force, and these science concepts were made more real to the class with the marble runs and the Lakeshore motion kit. They have learned to work together, make changes to their runs/ramps, and describe what happens as the marble goes from one place to another, and why. The magnetic numeral tiles and the transparent colored cubes have been so amazing to use with our light table. The students have been learning about the invisible force of magnets, color mixing, and number concepts as they engage with my theme-based light table centers.\r\n\r\nThe students have also used these materials to spark their imaginations. While using the colored rocks or the tangram shapes, they are manipulating items to create new things. These activities improve their spatial ability and geometry skills. The playdough and balls/tongs have helped develop their fine motor skills while they try to create theme vocabulary with everyday objects. The paint dotters and the paint sticks have been a total hit as they add vibrance and life to the images they create.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donation, you have taken their STEAM skills to another level. I cannot believe the discussions, ideas, and solutions I hear while they are working with these materials. I am so grateful! I will be sharing photos soon!","fullyFundedDate":1733280400043,"projectUrl":"project/resources-needed-to-promote-steam-skills/8602495/","projectTitle":"Resources Needed to Promote STEAM Skills for Bilingual PreK Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jenny Coffey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8601583_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660090385440","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/j-coffey"},{"teacherId":8601583,"projectId":8608570,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for your generosity with my classroom! We have gotten so much use out of these furniture pieces, and the children really love them, I think because they finally have some things that are comfortable for them to use because they are of good quality and the appropriate size.\r\n\r\nThe table and chairs has been used in a variety of ways. It has been used mainly in our dramatic play center, a center that is changed every month, depending on the theme. During our family theme, the table was key to bringing the students together as they imagined being family members preparing and sharing a meal together. During the winter theme, that center was an ice rink, and the table was used as the cashier's desk. During our engineering theme, the table was used to help the students collaborate with each other and draw their construction plans.\r\n\r\nWith the sunshine rug and red chairs I created a Peace Center. The students use this center when they need to calm down or they need some down time. They might go here to read, draw in their journal, or flip through some cards with differing emotions and appropriate problem solving ideas. The students really appreciate this center, and when they are sad or having a difficult time, they often approach me and ask if they can go sit in one of the red chairs. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for providing these age appropriate, safe seating options for my students!","fullyFundedDate":1726789974740,"projectUrl":"project/little-bodies-need-safe-little-furnitur/8608570/","projectTitle":"Little Bodies Need Safe, Little Furniture","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jenny Coffey","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8601583_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660090385440","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/j-coffey"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_11864","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":568,"numTeachers":54,"percentFrplEligible":76,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":14,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":74,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"10.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":75.4,"schoolId":11864,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Timberline Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Timberline Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/grapevine-colleyville-ind-sd/timberline-elementary-school/11864"}
