We requested a lot of consumables for prizes. One of those the consumable \"prizes\" were individually wrapped cookies. We used these for Face the Cookie Challenge. Students would share with the us what challenges the students, or school as a whole, are facing today. Students wrote down these schoolwide concerns, and we collected them in order to use it as data to drive our next activity. After they participated in the feedback activity, they'd get a two pack of cookies to do the \"Face the Cookie Challenge\". For this challenge students balanced one cookie on their forehead and had to inch it down slowly by scrunching their face and nose, and try to get it in their mouth without using hands. It was so much fun! It created laughter and allowed students an opportunity to be silly and have fun! In addition to this, we have done activities to teach mindfulness skills, and providing skills to help them with balancing school and life. We have also used our supplies to do activities revolving around joy, kindness, courage, and gratitude. \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the materials (and the other materials from Donors Choose we have used each week), they are always intrigued. It draws them in to participate in whatever counseling themed activity we're doing. It makes them excited to engage!\r\n\r\nOur next steps...we still have SO many activities planned for the remainder of the year! We plan to do fun, team building games such as the ball in the basket headband toss game and giant canvas moving loop (walk as a team) activity. We have a myriad of activities we will do beyond that which include prizes. A major guiding principle for us with these activities is \"Joy over time fuels resilience, ensuring we'll have reservoirs of emotional strength when hard things do happen.\" (quote by Brene Brown)These activities will allow us to implement parts of the counseling curriculum on a weekly basis, in a fun, engaging way for the remainder of the year.","fullyFundedDate":1735501483846,"projectUrl":"project/fun-day-fri-yay-counseling-corner-activi/8794985/","projectTitle":"Fun Day Fri-Yay Counseling Corner Activities for High School Students!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Biggs","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6361374_orig.jpg?crop=576,576,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1727177228877","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6361374"},{"teacherId":9778942,"projectId":8823376,"letterContent":"Our APIDA students have expressed immense gratitude for the chance to explore diverse cultures through food and shared experiences.
