Your contributions have transformed a simple idea into a sanctuary where our students can escape the chaos of typical school life, especially in these challenging post-COVID times.\r\n\r\nMany of our students come from low-income families, and for them, this space feels like a luxury that they truly deserve. Your generosity has enabled us to create an environment where they can unwind and feel valued, a rare gift that significantly enhances their daily experiences at school. In a world where they often face economic hardships, having a designated area where they can simply relax and recharge has made all the difference.\r\n\r\nThe centerpiece of our new space is undoubtedly the giant beanbag chairs. Not only do they look incredibly cool, capturing the attention and imagination of our students, but they are also exceptionally comfortable. These oversized chairs invite students to sink in and take a break from their busy routines, making it easier for them to engage with their peers or enjoy a few moments of solitude. Feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with many students expressing how they look forward to spending their lunchtime in this inviting atmosphere.\r\n\r\nFurthermore, the addition of soft lamps in the space has also been a game-changer. In contrast to the harsh fluorescent lights that typically dominate school environments, the gentle glow of our lamps creates a warm and cozy atmosphere. This subtle change significantly impacts the overall ambiance, allowing students to feel more relaxed and less stressed out as they settle into their surroundings. The importance of this shift cannot be overstated, especially in an era where mental wellness is paramount.\r\n\r\nWe are truly appreciative of how this project has positively impacted our students' mental health. Many have reported feeling less anxious and more at ease when they enter this cozy haven. In today's world, anxiety has become a common issue among students, often hindering their academic performance and engagement in extracurricular activities. By providing this quiet space, we are not only alleviating anxiety but also allowing students to focus better on their schoolwork or simply enjoy the calming effect of listening to music. This has proven essential in helping them excel academically and engage meaningfully in their interests outside of the classroom.\r\n\r\nIn closing, we cannot thank you enough for investing in our students' futures. Your kindness and generosity are evident in every corner of our new space, as you have given our students more than just physical comfort; you have granted them a place where they feel secure, valued, and empowered to succeed. It is with heartfelt gratitude that we celebrate your contribution to our community, as we continue to support our students in overcoming challenges and achieving excellence in their academics and social lives. Together, we are making a lasting difference in their lives. Thank you once again for believing in our mission and making our vision a reality.","fullyFundedDate":1723468087038,"projectUrl":"project/a-comfy-alternative-to-the-loud-cafeteri/8573619/","projectTitle":"A Comfy Alternative to the LOUD Cafeteria at Lunchtime","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Rivera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1429453_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1463161766946","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1429453"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_98613","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1156,"numTeachers":89,"percentFrplEligible":82,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":16,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":75,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"13.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":65.9,"schoolId":98613,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy 84 on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Thomas Jefferson Arts Academy 84","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/elizabeth-public-schools/thomas-jefferson-arts-academy/98613"}
