I knew my students had an interest in pretending to be doctors and veterinarians. As they first entered the room they had to engage in the provocation and then have breakfast and play outside before they were allowed free play in the classroom. They were almost vibrating with excitement as they entered the room after outside time. All of the children went directly to the dramatic play area and began to get out doctor kits and doctor coats. They took turns being the doctors and the patients at our clinic. Some of the children used the doctor kits to \"treat\" the stuffed animals in our room, taking their turns being veterinarians as well as doctors. It was the most engaged I'd ever seen my students! This explosion of interest was the focus of our classroom for the next 3 weeks!\r\n\r\n As well as doctor kits and dress up coats, we received firefighter and police officer play sets, kids microscopes and bugs in resin to look at, plus binoculars to view and assess things far away. The students are loving to learn about science and dramatic play, and they can't wait to use their new microscopes to look at new things they find in nature.These items have enriched my classroom in so many ways, and I can't thank you enough for the gift of your support.","fullyFundedDate":1759004652370,"projectUrl":"project/social-emotional-meets-steam/9720246/","projectTitle":"Social Emotional Meets STEAM","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kathy","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10265668_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758234277955","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10265668"},{"teacherId":1788480,"projectId":9558791,"letterContent":"I am so deeply thankful for your generosity in fully funding our \"Science and Sensory\" project for the Seedlings classroom at The Grove Early Childhood Program. We had peers playing with peers that really didn't seem to connect at the beginning playing together and making big connections with each other. We also saw children very engaged with learning and building new foundations of learning.\r\nThis program brought out a loving social story amongst two of my students. They engaged with each other building a hamburger. One of my students that needs help reaching out to his peers was able to open up and experience peer companionship. These particular children learned that even though they did not like the same items on a hamburger, they both liked hamburgers. A HUGE learning opportunity for indifference and similarity problem solving and engagement.\r\nWe also witnessed one of our littles playing with the magnets. It was fascinating to see how she would put the ball on the magnet and pull it off. Engaging her to talk and tell her teachers what her thoughts were about the magnet was a joy. We watched a child learn a new interest that she, with the help of her teachers can build a foundation of experience and learning.\r\nThis program helped build new engagements and really keyed into building our school family. Our kiddos, who we love so very much have stayed engaged and have built new interests and with your help we have made new foundations of learning for these kiddos to grow upon.","fullyFundedDate":1732291009084,"projectUrl":"project/let-the-learning-begin/8606473/","projectTitle":"Let the Learning Begin...","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kim","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9639335"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_129160","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":60,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":43,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":88,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - Pre-K","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":76.5,"schoolId":129160,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about The Grove Early Learning Center on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"The Grove Early Learning Center","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/colorado/buena-vista-school-district-r-31/the-grove-early-learning-center/129160"}
