Before this project, we had about 20ish students (in 3rd-8th) who consistently performed in our school assemblies. I was hoping that by funding the rights to Disney's The Lion King, Jr, that I could pique the interest of our second graders. Once we started auditions, so many first graders came prepared to dance and sing that I couldn't leave them out. Because of this project, our cast of performers has doubled and now includes students in 1st-8th! \r\n\r\nRehearsals started in January with a performance set for April. Our troupe of performers are truly enjoying this opportunity. Four days a week, our cast is dancing, singing, and acting. Our art students are designing sets and props. Our director's assistant and stage manager (both eighth graders) are embracing their leadership roles and are developing into wonderful role models. \r\n\r\nI cannot thank you enough for making my dream a reality. I would also like to give a shout out and thank you to Donors Choose here also, because as soon as I notified them of the concern, they looked into it and immediately took care of it. They must have understood I was busy and they didn't leave it up to me to track down the package and all. \r\nAlso, I was even able to pick additional items to make up the difference. This was unexpected but very much appreciated. \r\nSo in addition to the wobble stools that did arrive, the students now have electronic keyboards as well as additional fidget manipulatives.
