The whiteboards that you helped to purchase for my classroom have been used multiple times in the first quarter of our school year. The purpose of the whiteboards was to implement an educational approach called Building Thinking Classrooms. This approach has been shown to foster deeper student engagement and critical thinking by breaking from traditional teacher-centric models. It focuses on student collaboration and problem-solving through practices like using vertical whiteboards for group work, forming visibly random groups, and emphasizing process over memorization. \r\nWith your support, I was able to purchase 10 vertical whiteboards on easels that can be easily set up for an afternoon of problem-solving. It was important to buy whiteboards that are easy to set up and can be stored in a small space, as I don't have room in my classroom to keep them setup at all times. The whiteboards have been used every Friday in my classroom. My students have been randomly put into groups of 3, and then work together to solve higher-order thinking problems within our math curriculum. This has become a highlight of our school week, and students are getting better at sharing ideas and working together.","fullyFundedDate":1755698939855,"projectUrl":"project/whiteboards-to-help-build-thinking-class/9564056/","projectTitle":"Whiteboards to Help Build Thinking Classrooms!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Wallis","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-10_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10164078"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_60060","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":297,"numTeachers":19,"percentFrplEligible":36,"percentAsian":13,"percentBlack":4,"percentWhite":48,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":18,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"15.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.8,"schoolId":60060,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Terrace Park School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Terrace Park School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/washington/edmonds-school-district/terrace-park-school/60060"}
