Rather than sitting passively and absorbing information, students move, collaborate, and apply their reading and communication skills in real-time challenges around the room. Using the technology, students must read carefully, infer meaning, and communicate evidence-based responses to complete each task. Many of our donors use technology, but what makes this powerful in school is that it turns devices into tools for critical thinking, teamwork, and literacy growth rather than just entertainment.\r\n\r\nWhat excites students most is the adventure of the activity. They love scanning codes, discovering hidden tasks, and racing to solve them before their peers. Every clue feels like a mini-mission that requires both brainpower and leadership skills, such as listening, delegating, and supporting others. Even students who are usually quiet in class become more active participants: they take on roles, share ideas, and feel proud when their group earns a team badge or leaderboard point.\r\n\r\nI've also seen huge growth in a few students who struggled with confidence at the beginning of the year. One student who rarely spoke during discussions has become the \"navigator\" for her team, reading directions aloud and helping her peers stay organized. Another student with behavior challenges has channeled his energy into leading his group through every hunt, celebrating small wins, and encouraging his teammates. Leadership Scavenger Hunts have been more than just a fun activity. They have created space for students to show who they are, step into leadership roles, and discover that learning can be a joyful adventure worth chasing.","fullyFundedDate":1642946787059,"projectUrl":"project/leadership-scavenger-hunts/6136866/","projectTitle":"Leadership Scavenger Hunts","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Bell","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6810947_orig.png?crop=959,959,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1568056157544","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6810947"},{"teacherId":7958582,"projectId":8618199,"letterContent":"Thanks to your generous donation, we have transformed our classroom into a more comfortable and inclusive space tailored to the needs of middle school students with disabilities. These new texts introduce important skills such as critical thinking, comprehension strategies, vocabulary development, and the ability to analyze characters and plot. Through engaging stories, students also explore themes like empathy, resilience, and cultural diversity, which deepen their understanding of the world and themselves.\r\n In our classroom, reading is an interactive and lively experience. Students gather in small groups or independently, discussing ideas, making predictions, and connecting stories to their own lives. The new book series have sparked enthusiasm, encouraging even reluctant readers to dive in and build stamina and confidence.\r\n Particularly, several students who struggled to find books that captured their interests are now excited to read regularly. One student shared how a series about adventure and friendship made reading feel like an exciting journey rather than a task. Others are thriving by exploring genres new to them, expanding their horizons and reading skills simultaneously.Thanks to your support, our classroom has become a vibrant reading community where every student has the opportunity to discover stories that inspire and empower them.","fullyFundedDate":1746653027242,"projectUrl":"project/lets-fall-in-love-with-reading/9249540/","projectTitle":"Let's Fall in Love with Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Rios","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7958582_orig.jpg?crop=569,569,x184,y451&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1628708051625","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7958582"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_77725","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":453,"numTeachers":18,"percentFrplEligible":95,"percentAsian":4,"percentBlack":7,"percentWhite":3,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":81,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"7 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"25.2:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":73.9,"schoolId":77725,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Tehipite Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Tehipite Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/fresno-unified-school-district/tehipite-middle-school/77725"}
