They can create visual vocabulary presentations to learn and remember new vocabulary faster. \r\n\r\nThe most important part of all of this is that learning can take place and they can reach language proficiency quicker. This project was a great way to get students active, looking at their community, and analyzing its beauty. \r\n\r\nFirst, students identified significant places on the map of their city. They then went out to take pictures of some of these significant places. Through this, students were able to take a step back from their daily routine and notice their surroundings a lot more. Many students say that this project also helped them see their community in a more positive light. \r\n\r\nOne student specifically stated that she now \"sees things differently.\" Where once a local park was just a hangout spot, after this project, she's recognized the importance this place has had not just on her but her community. \r\n\r\nThank you for your contribution to ending the year strong with my 8th graders.
