The items you provided allow them to have more options to explore and more conversations to work as a team on how to use these items.\r\n\r\nAdditionally to the great STEM items, you also provided extra school supplies. This helped relieve some of the pressure off of families to buy items for our classroom that are needed for learning. Having high-interest decodable books at the \"right\" level has made an incredible difference in our fourth and fifth-grade resource room. At this age, students are very aware that reading feels difficult for them, and they are often resistant to materials they perceive as \"baby-ish.\" These new texts respect their age while still supporting their decoding needs—and that has been powerful.\r\n\r\nIn our classroom, we read every single day. Reading time includes explicit phonics instruction, guided practice, and partner reading. With these new books, students are able to practice breaking the reading code while also engaging in meaningful comprehension work. We can now teach and discuss character traits, conflict, theme, and story structure using books they can actually decode independently. Working on comprehension skills while strengthening foundational reading skills is incredibly challenging, but having appropriate materials helps us do both. Students are building fluency, confidence, and a deeper understanding at the same time.\r\n\r\nThe shift in student confidence has been noticeable. Some of my most hesitant readers now volunteer to read aloud. Others who used to avoid independent reading are staying engaged because they can successfully read the text on their own. They feel capable—and that independence matters. These books are not just improving reading skills; they are helping students see themselves as readers. Your generosity has provided tools that meet students where they are and support them as they grow into stronger, more confident learners.","fullyFundedDate":1759611882717,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-literacy-high-interest-decoda/9768602/","projectTitle":"Unlocking Literacy: High-Interest Decodables for Older Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Swentik","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9702849"},{"teacherId":9702849,"projectId":9591458,"letterContent":"Because of your generosity, our classroom has been buzzing with creativity, collaboration, and problem-solving. The cardboard construction tools you helped provide have quickly become one of the most loved and frequently used resources in our room.\r\n\r\nFrom the very first day we introduced the materials, the excitement was contagious. Students' eyes lit up as they realized they could design and build almost anything they could imagine. What started as careful exploration quickly turned into full-scale projects, teamwork, and joyful experimentation. They weren't just playing—they were planning, testing, revising, and celebrating their ideas.\r\n\r\nOne of our favorite projects so far has been building a housing unit for our class pet bearded dragon. Students worked together to design a structure that considered space, safety, and comfort. They measured, sketched plans, adjusted their designs, and proudly presented their final build. We've also used the materials in science to explore earthquake-safe construction. Students designed and tested structures to see which designs could withstand simulated \"earthquakes.\" The conversations about stability, foundations, and design improvements were thoughtful and impressive.\r\n\r\nBeyond individual projects, these tools have provided an outlet for creativity and ingenuity. Students who may not always shine during traditional lessons have found a new way to express their thinking. They are building, revising, collaborating, and frankly just having fun while doing meaningful learning.\r\n\r\nNext, we are expanding our earthquake engineering project. Students will refine their designs based on what they learned during testing and create improved prototypes. They'll reflect on what worked, what didn't, and why—strengthening both their scientific reasoning and their growth mindset. We also plan to integrate the cardboard tools into upcoming STEM challenges that connect to our science and math standards.\r\n\r\nYour donation did more than provide materials. It opened doors for hands-on learning, problem-solving, teamwork, and creativity. Thank you for giving our students the opportunity to imagine, design, and build with confidence.","fullyFundedDate":1757803258548,"projectUrl":"project/safe-tools-for-stem-projects/9591458/","projectTitle":"Safe tools for STEM projects!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Swentik","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9702849"},{"teacherId":10245723,"projectId":9692356,"letterContent":"The donation of a half-size cello has made a meaningful difference in my 5th and 6th grade orchestra classes. Students were very excited to see the new cello arrive. Having the correct instrument size for every student has greatly improved both comfort and technique. Young cellists need instruments that properly fit their height and arm length in order to develop healthy posture, accurate hand position, and good tone production. With the addition of this half-size cello, one of my students who was previously struggling on an instrument that was too large can now play with much greater ease and confidence.\r\n\r\nJust as importantly, the donation means that no students have to share an instrument. Now, every child has consistent access to their own cello. This has created a smoother, more productive learning environment, and allows everyone who wants to practice at home the ability to do so.\r\n\r\nOverall, this generous gift has strengthened our ensemble, supported proper musical development, and ensured that every student has an equal opportunity to succeed.","fullyFundedDate":1766536232087,"projectUrl":"project/small-cello-big-dreams/9692356/","projectTitle":"Small cello, big dreams.","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Koch","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10245723_orig.jpg?crop=390,390,x0,y5&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1757190157308","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10245723"},{"teacherId":8522056,"projectId":9599999,"letterContent":"Thank you so incredibly much for fully funding my two-part project!
