Our students used the generous donation to purchase a popcorn machine shortly after the start of the school year. They began popping away and selling their popcorn for a dollar a bag. By November, they had raised enough money to purchase twelve book from our local book store. The students thoroughly enjoyed the process of advertising for the popcorn sales, preparing the popcorn, and selling. It was good for them to practice their math skills as they collected money and gave change.\r\n\r\nThe hardest part was trying to decide which books to purchase but in the end, we found some great read aloud books for each grade level, Kindergarten through 4th grade. The books were wrapped in colorful wrapping paper and delivered during an assembly where we were learning about \"generosity\". It was a perfect opportunity to talk about generosity and talk about the work the students did to earn money to purchase the books that they were delivering on that day.\r\n\r\nThe audience (the students who were receiving the books) roared with excitement and they are so looking forward having the older students read to them. The 4th graders have already created a schedule and it will happen at the end of this month. This has been a great project for the student as they promote and inspire a love for reading in our school. Thanks to your support, my students and I have been able to incorporate tether balls, a computer stand, markers and dry erase boards, and model putty into our classroom and playground, transforming the way we learn and play.\r\n\r\nThe excitement was palpable when the materials arrived. The tether balls brought a new energy to recess—students eagerly lined up to take turns, fostering friendly competition and teamwork. Inside the classroom, the dry erase boards and markers have become essential tools for active learning. Whether solving math problems or brainstorming creative ideas, students are more engaged and collaborative. The model putty has been a favorite for hands-on science activities, helping students visualize and better understand complex concepts. The new computer stand has also made our classroom tech more accessible, making presentations and group projects much easier to manage.\r\n\r\nOne standout moment was when a student used the model putty to demonstrate the layers of the Earth during a science lesson. Seeing their pride in presenting their work was truly rewarding. Another joyful moment was hearing laughter and cheering as students played with the tether balls, building friendships and boosting their physical activity.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, we'll continue to use these materials to enhance our learning and play. The dry erase boards will be key in our upcoming geometry unit, allowing students to work together on challenging problems. The model putty will help us explore more scientific models, such as ecosystems and anatomy. And, of course, the tether balls will keep bringing fun and movement to recess for years to come.\r\n\r\nYour contribution has made an enduring difference in our classroom and playground, and I can't thank you enough for being part of this journey. Please know that your kindness is inspiring young minds and helping us achieve more than we could have imagined.","fullyFundedDate":1724629078173,"projectUrl":"project/mr-ries-bag-of-tricks-for-student-enga/8698972/","projectTitle":"Mr. Ries’ Bag of Tricks for Student Engagement","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ries","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-7_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9704213"},{"teacherId":9711069,"projectId":8710270,"letterContent":"Thank you so very much for the STEM materials you donated to my Kindergarten classroom.\r\n\r\n My students use the materials and supplies donated during ELA and Math Centers.
