Thanks to the 25 copies of Charlie and the Chocolate Factory you helped to purchase, reading engagement is through the roof in my classroom!. Every day, we listen to the audiobook together while following along with our new novels. This daily routine has quickly become a favorite part of our school day — students are so engaged that they beg to read \"just one more chapter\" every time we stop for the day.\r\n\r\nAfter each reading, students dive deeper by analyzing the chapters for character growth, theme, and perspective. They've been making thoughtful connections and lively predictions about what might happen next. We also pair the novel with nonfiction passages that help students explore real-world topics related to the story — like candy making, inventors, and probability, and the science behind self-control.\r\n\r\nTo top it all off, we recently celebrated our love for the book by dressing up as Oompa Loompas for our school's character parade! Seeing their excitement and pride in connecting with literature in such a fun, creative way was truly heartwarming.\r\n\r\nYour donation has made reading come alive for my students. As we read, students followed the major events in the story like Roy discovering the barefoot boy, the strange problems at the construction site, and the conflict with the pancake house company. We worked together to track these moments and talked about how the story built up to the big turning point and eventually wrapped up. Students started to see how each event pushed the story forward and helped them understand the bigger messages the author was trying to share.\r\n\r\nWe also spent time focusing on theme. Students talked about the important ideas in the book like protecting the environment, standing up for what's right, and building friendships. They used details from the story to support their thinking and got really into the discussions.
