With these, I have been able to personaliZe templates for them to adjust the whiteboards to have notes or guided steps for students as refreshers while doing their work. We have been able to use them for games, practice, and reviews. \r\n\r\nThe puzzles were a big success. I used them as a brain break where students were competing against other groups to see would could complete it the quickest. This was also intentional as it was a day I had moved them back into groups. They were communicating and working together to try and put the puzzle together. Because of you, my students now have the tools they need to engage more deeply in their learning and explore science in meaningful, hands-on ways.\r\n\r\nThe computer mice you provided have had an immediate and powerful impact on our classroom. Students have been using them to work on projects such as their Kitchen Chemistry presentations, where they researched and explained the chemical and physical changes that occur while making their favorite foods. With the mice, students were able to navigate digital platforms more efficiently, collaborate more easily, and focus on presenting their ideas clearly.\r\n\r\nThey are also using the mice for their Cell City Project, where students design a city to represent the structure and function of cell organelles. After completing a planning and consultation phase, students chose how to bring their ideas to life—by building physical models, drawing designs, creating posters, or using Minecraft Education. This year, many students selected the Minecraft option, which had not been widely used in past years. The computer mice were essential in making this possible, allowing students to work comfortably and confidently in small groups as they designed their virtual cities.\r\n\r\nIn addition, the other supplies—such as highlighters, glue, and sensory tools—have helped support close reading, creative model-making, and focus during lessons. Together, these materials have helped create a more inclusive and engaging learning environment where all students feel supported.\r\n\r\nYour generosity has helped transform simple classroom activities into rich learning experiences that build critical thinking, creativity, and collaboration. Most importantly, you have helped my students feel empowered and excited about learning science.\r\n\r\nThank you for believing in our classroom and for investing in our students' success. Headphones allow students to focus more deeply by minimizing distractions and creating a calm, structured learning environment. They make it possible for students to fully participate in digital lessons, instructional videos, and online learning programs without feeling overwhelmed by background noise. This is especially valuable in a middle school setting, where students often need help developing concentration and self-management skills. With headphones, students can work at their own pace—rewinding instructions, replaying explanations, or listening multiple times until they truly understand the material.\r\n\r\nNew books are equally powerful in transforming the classroom experience. A refreshed and diverse collection of books increases students' motivation to read by offering choices that match their interests, reading levels, and cultural backgrounds. When students see books that feel relevant and engaging, they are more likely to read voluntarily, which strengthens vocabulary, comprehension, and critical thinking skills. New books also support differentiated instruction, allowing me to provide appropriate challenges for advanced readers while ensuring struggling readers still have access to texts they can successfully understand and enjoy. This helps students build confidence and develop a more positive relationship with reading.\r\n\r\nTogether, headphones and books promote equity and accessibility for all learners. Many students benefit from audiobooks, text-to-speech tools, and language-learning programs, particularly English learners and students who need additional academic support. Headphones ensure these students can access content privately and comfortably, reducing anxiety and encouraging participation. This combination of resources allows students to engage with content in multiple ways, reinforcing understanding and supporting different learning styles.\r\n\r\nBeyond academics, these resources contribute to a stronger classroom culture. Students feel valued when they are provided with quality materials that support their success. Headphones and new books encourage independence, responsibility, and pride in learning, helping create a classroom environment where students feel supported, motivated, and excited to grow as learners.","fullyFundedDate":1764738217847,"projectUrl":"project/help-replace-older-books-and-headphones/9901674/","projectTitle":"Help Replace Older Books and Headphones!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. O'Hearn","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10353121"},{"teacherId":10232060,"projectId":9684639,"letterContent":"Thank you for your contributions toward these items, as they have greatly enriched the classroom and made it easier for my students to navigate their Chromebooks. Watching them move confidently between stations and use the tools in ways that fit their individual learning styles was a highlight for me.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're taking the next step in our current unit by applying these materials to a longer-term project.
