When I shared the calming tools with my students, they were so excited to use them. Now my calming corner has the necessary tools to help my students de-stress, regulate their emotions and regain their composure. One of my students who has sensory issues was getting upset and stood up from where she was sitting and walked over to the calming area. She was able to recognize that her behavior was escalating and took a break from learning and returned when she regained her composure.\r\nThe calming area with the new resources has allowed me to continue to teach without disruptive behavior interfering with the other students' learning. My kindergartners are gaining a better understanding of their own emotional needs and they are learning when they need to remove themselves from a stressful situation. With a working printer, I can now print learning activities and homework assignments more efficiently to meet the needs of my diverse scholars in the class. \r\n\r\nStudent engagement in my Hmong dual language immersion kindergarten class has gone up because of the new products that I have received.
