I'm thrilled to share how your donations have already made an impact in our classroom.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the beakers, test tubes, magnifying glasses, meter sticks, Magna-Tiles, and educational games, my students have been exploring science in exciting, hands-on ways. One standout project involved using the beakers and test tubes during a science lab on mixtures and solutions. Students loved putting on their \"scientist hats\" and conducting real experiments—it was incredible to see how engaged they were!\r\n\r\nWhen they first saw the materials, there was a buzz of excitement in the room. Several students gathered around the Magna-Tiles right away and began building structures, while others immediately started exploring the magnifying glasses and discussing what they could investigate. One student excitedly said, \"We're like real scientists now!\" Moments like that remind me of how much your support means to our learning environment.\r\n\r\nNext up, we're working on a unit involving measurement, where the meter sticks will play a key role. Students will practice measuring various objects in the classroom and apply their skills to real-world tasks like designing and planning layouts. In addition, we'll be using the Magna-Tiles for a STEM challenge where students will collaborate to build bridges and test their stability.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, our classroom is full of discovery, creativity, and teamwork. The new materials have opened the door to so many learning opportunities. Several of my students have very poor strength in their hands which impacts their ability to have legible handwriting. I use the new resources during small group intervention. The item that has really helped my students with fine motor and tracking issues has been the tracing boards with the letters on one side and the squiggly lines on the other side. I have a first grade student who is unable to write any letters so the tracing boards have been a great tool. \r\n\r\nNext steps are to start an afterschool program for these students. Not only does working with the students make me happy. I have noticed while using the manipulative a couple of students have a hard time crossing the mid-line. So the activities with the magnetic boards that have marbles that they have to move to the correct color has helped with crossing the mid-line. My student is currently able to write 4 letters of his name. This is a huge success for him.","fullyFundedDate":1727462629879,"projectUrl":"project/strength-and-knowledge/8572957/","projectTitle":"Strength and Knowledge","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Byrd","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-3_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9235724"},{"teacherId":8448321,"projectId":8573228,"letterContent":"I am writing to express my sincere gratitude for your generous donation of mechanical pencils, playdough, and alphabet name tags to help support my students' fine motor skills development. Your thoughtful contribution will have a meaningful impact on their ability to improve their handwriting and overall motor coordination.\r\n\r\nThe mechanical pencils are a wonderful tool for my students, and the playdough provides them with an enjoyable and tactile way to strengthen their hand muscles while practicing letter formation.
