I ask them why and they say that they feel more comfortable sitting on the rug and it helps them focus. I have truly noticed how some students really thrive by just sitting on the rug to complete independent work. \r\n\r\nWe started the year off with a small, torn-up, thrifted rug and students never wanted to sit there. They would always ask to stay at their desks. Ever since getting this new rug, I can't seem to get them off of it! No words can describe how wonderful that feels! \r\nAdditionally, I have been using the stress balls for my students during progress monitoring assessments. It not only helps gets a fun way for them to work together but it encourages their curiosity ad they look at the dinosaur bones n the backside of the puzzle.
