These texts have already been in so many students' hands, and are utilized constantly throughout the day for read to self, read with a peer, and read aloud times. Every time a new package came, there were squeals throughout the room. They have loved the excitement, and I love that we're so excited about BOOKS!\r\n\r\nWe have set a goal to read each of the Oregon Battle of the Books (OBOB) texts in some capacity throughout our classroom this year (in small groups, whole class read aloud, etc.) and The City of Ember - one of the texts you helped us get - is the first on our list! We sit together daily and discuss the story and new vocabulary we're experiencing while reading it. It's also a series, that several students have expressed interest in continuing to read.\r\n\r\nStudents within my classroom often do not have books at home, and read in class as often as they can. It has been really encouraging to be able to see them so excited to read, with a list of 'to be read next' books in mind as well. \r\n\r\nI especially love that we were able to collect a good amount of graphic novels, which allow students who aren't quite at fifth grade reading level yet, to experience longer stories, visually larger-sized texts (compared to thin leveled readers), and visual supports to confidently read and enjoy books their peers do, with success!","fullyFundedDate":1759167348254,"projectUrl":"project/page-turners-for-sunrise-learners/9643850/","projectTitle":"Page Turners for Sunrise Learners","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. France","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp4020129_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755922338442","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mssteinhauer"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_88036","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":324,"numTeachers":25,"percentFrplEligible":64,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":51,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":37,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"13.0:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":65.5,"schoolId":88036,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sunrise Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sunrise Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/greater-albany-pub-sch-dist-8j/sunrise-elementary-school/88036"}
