What used to require expensive parts, long shipping times, or work-arounds can now be designed, printed, and tested right in our own STEM room. Students have moved from simply assembling kits to becoming true engineers—planning, prototyping, iterating, and troubleshooting with real design tools.\r\nThe printer has especially strengthened our FIRST Tech Challenge (FTC) team. Students are now able to custom-design brackets, spacers, servo mounts, camera housings, wiring guides, wheel hubs, and other small but critical components that allow our robot to fit the unique needs of each challenge. Instead of waiting weeks for specialty parts, our team can print prototypes in hours and refine them the same day. This rapid-iteration cycle has dramatically improved both the quality of our robot and students' confidence in their engineering abilities.\r\nFor our wider STEM club, the 3D printer has created a hands-on learning environment where creativity meets technical skill. Students are gaining experience with CAD modeling, tolerances, slicer settings, filament selection, structural design, and real-world problem solving. Many students—especially those who have never had access to this kind of technology—are now seeing themselves as designers, engineers, and innovators. It has also helped spark ideas for side projects such as camera mounts for the drone team, cases for Raspberry Pi systems, hydroponics parts, greenhouse components, and Sumner-branded items they can eventually use for fundraising.\r\nBeyond the technical benefits, the 3D printer has helped build pride and ownership. Students appreciate seeing their ideas become tangible objects on the spot. It has created momentum for our STEM room and shown the entire school community what is possible when students have access to the right tools.","fullyFundedDate":1758995824321,"projectUrl":"project/3d-printer-for-sumners-robotics-team/9759018/","projectTitle":"3D Printer for Sumner’s Robotics Team","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Sharp","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8077917_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1700156156671","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8077917"},{"teacherId":8077917,"projectId":9022194,"letterContent":"Thank you for supporting our students' research and project development through these amazing books. In our Human Body, Biology, Physical Science, Life Science, and Environmental Science classes, these speakers have transformed our lessons into interactive, engaging learning experiences. Students can now clearly hear educational videos, virtual labs, and science podcasts; helping them connect complex concepts to real-world applications in a way that truly holds their attention.\r\n\r\nThe new speakers have brought excitement and energy into our classroom. My students love hearing the crisp, clear sound during virtual dissections, science documentaries, and environmental simulations. For many of my learners, especially those who benefit from audio-based instruction, the improved sound quality helps them focus, understand vocabulary, and retain key scientific information much more effectively. Watching their reactions when we first used the speakers, (wide eyes, smiles, and genuine curiosity) was a moment I won't forget.\r\n\r\nSeveral students who often struggle to stay engaged have really taken to this technology. One of my students, who is usually quiet during lessons, now eagerly volunteers to play the educational videos and even helps his classmates follow along with the material. The sound system has helped turn routine lessons into exciting shared experiences.\r\n\r\nThank you again for believing in our classroom and for helping my students learn through the power of sound.
