We start and finish the day reaping the benefits of your generosity.\r\nI have begun the year with students accustomed to video games and television. The school has issued Chrome books for each student. The students were unhappy with me when I didn't allow them to play on the Computer. \"But, Ms. Etheridge, it's a math game!\" I have offered Magna tiles and checkers and now two weeks into school no one is complaining!","fullyFundedDate":1753286006265,"projectUrl":"project/soft-start/9468647/","projectTitle":"Soft Start","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Etheridge","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10081763"},{"teacherId":697869,"projectId":9137167,"letterContent":"Thanks so much for your donations to our project. We have been able to expand student participation and the type of projects that we make. We started with the idea that we would make a blanket together, but the students had other ideas. With the materials you donated, we have been able to learn how to make dolls, cat toys, hats, scrunchies and other things. Everything the students make comes out of their imagination and usually supported by a pattern that I find online now.\r\nFirst, I was amazed that we had the new supplies within about 15 days of my posting this project. To me, that was amazing! When the students opened the boxes and saw all the assorted colors, the tools for counting rows and the different crochet hooks they were so excited their imaginations started running wild. We had to pare back what they wanted to make just so they would not get too overwhelmed with all the new things that they would be learning. One student began work on a red and green caterpillar to go with a children's book. Another student began work on a rainbow scrunchie that took her about 10 recesses to finish.\r\nThe success of this project has been more than I ever anticipated! The students are able to make the things they want with the materials they need, but it became more exciting to them with the idea that someone outside of the school cared about their interests and ability to learn. The students also brought more friends, and we were able to extend this to two recesses instead one 1 and a Friday afternoon activity once a month!","fullyFundedDate":1741049570800,"projectUrl":"project/what-the-hook-is-that/9137167/","projectTitle":"What the \"Hook\" is That?!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Sanderson","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp697869_orig.jpg?crop=2208,2208,x0,y73&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1740839809458","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/jennifer-sanderson"},{"teacherId":9150953,"projectId":7617038,"letterContent":"My students are loving the sensory play now integrated into their daily tasks!\r\nStudents are using the sand to build letters, create different settings for character toys and also warning it as a free choice.
