When the students saw the yoga ball, donut seats, desk laps, wobble cushions and colorful floor pillows, there was an immediate sense of excitement. It almost felt like a reward for them! They were so eager to trade their traditional desks and hard plastic chairs for these flexible options. To a third grader, having the choice to sit on a wobble cushion or grab a portable lap desk and find a spot on the floor makes them feel like they have a real say in their own learning. It was a \"wow\" moment that turned our regular classroom into a place where they truly wanted to be.\r\n\r\nWe've been using these items daily during our independent work and partner collaboration time, and the results have been surprising. You might think that giving kids more freedom to move around would make things louder, but it's actually had the opposite effect. Because the students are physically comfortable and engaged with their donut seats or floor pillows, the room actually gets quieter. Whether they are spread out working independently on a math module or huddled with a partner to discuss a science observation, they are so \"locked in\" to their tasks that the usual fidgeting and distractions have just melted away. Seeing them collaborate while using their flexible seating has been one of the highlights of my teaching year so far.","fullyFundedDate":1755728999774,"projectUrl":"project/creating-a-comfy-flexible-space-for-lea/9292642/","projectTitle":"Creating a Comfy, Flexible Space for Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jahnke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10007917_orig.jpg?crop=2248,2248,x152,y448&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747540888957","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10007917"},{"teacherId":10007917,"projectId":9365108,"letterContent":"I wanted to send a huge thank you for bringing our project, \"Hear Every Word,\" to life. My third graders are right at the age where they are transitioning from using tablets for games to using them as serious tools for learning in math and science, and these headphones are the bridge that makes that possible. In our classroom, technology helps us dive into interactive science simulations and step-by-step math tutorials where hearing the explanation is just as important as seeing the screen. These headphones allow students to hear the \"why\" behind a math problem without being distracted by the rest of the class. It transforms the tablet from a toy into a personal tutor, helping them build the digital literacy skills they will need for years to come.\r\n\r\nThe students are honestly most excited about the \"official\" feel of these headphones, they love having their own dedicated, comfortable pair of headphones. They've expressed so much excitement over how clear the audio is, noting that they don't have to strain to hear instructions over the general hum of the classroom. This has been especially impactful for several students who are still getting the hang of using technology for learning. \r\n\r\nOne of the biggest game-changers is the sheer reliability of the equipment; these headphones have sturdy plugs that actually stay securely in the ports. We've moved past the days of constant interruptions from cords breaking or falling out mid-lesson. Now, because the tech just works, my students can stay completely locked into their independent math and science tasks without any frustrating technical glitches breaking their concentration Your support has given my students the quiet and clarity they need to truly master these new skills, and we are so grateful for your investment in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1755728999324,"projectUrl":"project/hear-every-word-durable-headphones-for/9365108/","projectTitle":"Hear Every Word: Durable Headphones for Focused Third Grade Learning","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Jahnke","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10007917_orig.jpg?crop=2248,2248,x152,y448&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1747540888957","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10007917"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_129218","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":210,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":65,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":36,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":39,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"3 - 5","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_FRINGE"},"inStateSupporters":83.3,"schoolId":129218,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Summit Leadership Academy on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Summit Leadership Academy","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/keene-independent-school-district/summit-leadership-academy/129218"}
