When arriving at my school my classroom didn't have any options for differentiated learning opportunities. The desk that was donated to my room allows for my diverse learner to choose a learning option that will help support their focus and attention. \r\n\r\nThe standing desk has allowed a safe and undisruptive way for students who seek movement to do so while continuing to do their learning. This desks allows students an opportunity to choose the best desk to support their learning, many students prefer to stand or other alternative spaces to work independently and in small groups. \r\n\r\nThe sensory items that were received; the breathing rainbow and thinking putty were both useful tools to add to my calming corner. When arriving at my school my classroom didn't have many options for differentiated learning tools. The tent, standing desk, light covers, and speaker that were donated to my room allows for my diverse learner with tools that help support their focus and attention. \r\n\r\nThe tent has allowed students to have a safe and undisruptive way to refocus their energy and mind before rejoining the group learning setting. Students have become independent in using this tool and it allows them a calm and separate space to go and gather their thoughts in order to do their best learning. \r\n\r\nThe desk in my room has also allowed for additional opportunities for students needs to be met. Students who also struggle to physically sit on the rug have the opportunity to still be a part of the group and can stand at the table to get their instruction as well. The desk also allows for students to understand their unique needs and another way to focus and learn in ways that best support them. \r\n\r\nThe speaker that was provided we not only use to play calming music in any space we want, but the students have been able to use it to listen to read Alouds in a small group setting and also have access to text that may be too difficult for them to read on their own.
