The class had assumed that the tools came from the school or myself, but I explained that they did not. The class was super excited to find out that the materials came from people outside our school. They were curious about the strangers that cared about their learning. \r\n\r\nSince the beginning of the school year, my class has used the received tools. The pencils and crayons are essential to everyday class activities. The triangular shape piques student interest and reminds them to be intentional with their grasp and pencil strokes. We can hold a pencil correctly but still need work on our handwriting. Our class has been practicing using the proper form. We discuss tall letters, small letters, and letters that fall (under the bottom line).\r\n\r\nAdditionally, our centers would be limited to paper and pencil, without the thin whiteboard markers, math manipulatives, and literacy puzzles and hands-on activities. The chain-link math manipulatives is a favorite. They love to collaborate and check each other's counting. I love that they practice one-to-one correspondence twice-- when they complete a chain and when they check their partners work. This activity works to strengthen their number recognition and number sense when putting the numbers in order. \r\n\r\nThese essential items have helped across all subjects. We use them when drawing story elements, practicing addition or counting to 100, showing our scientific thoughts, and building our literacy skills. Our class will grow and grow thanks to you.","fullyFundedDate":1746452155811,"projectUrl":"project/kicking-off-kindergarten-with-the-basics/9312280/","projectTitle":"Kicking off Kindergarten with the Basics (Tools and Knowledge)","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Reyes","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10011916_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1746371345215","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/reyes-k1"},{"teacherId":10011912,"projectId":9312242,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for all of the donations.
