These materials have already become a cornerstone of our STEM curriculum, allowing students to bridge the gap between abstract math concepts and physical engineering.\r\n\r\nIn our recent sessions, students used the planks to master structural balance and collaborative design. The increase in our inventory means that students are no longer limited by scale; they now have the resources to build larger, more sophisticated structures and take full ownership of their engineering goals. However, their favorite activity with Keva Planks is just having the freedom to build whatever they imagine. \r\n\r\nYour support has directly enhanced the collaborative and analytical environment of our classroom. It is amazing to have the art board games and drawing books as an option for students instead of computer games. Many students are choosing to play a game with friends rather than zoning out alone on their computer, and it's fun watching our students flex their social skills. \r\n\r\nStudents especially love playing \"Hues and Cues.\" It is by far the most popular game in the bunch and gets played almost every class - I may need to get another one! The kids enjoy trying to figure out the different colors and get pretty creative with their descriptions! I love it because I can see them using their color vocabulary, but the kids love it because lots of people can play at once, plus it's easy and fun.\r\n\r\nOne of my students who is on the Autism Spectrum enjoys using the \"How To Draw\" books. They've let him stretch himself artistically by teaching him new ways to draw his favorite things, like animals and dinosaurs. The books are an excellent resource for other independent learners in our classrooms, too. \r\n\r\nThank you again for your generous donation!","fullyFundedDate":1742746399944,"projectUrl":"project/creating-connections-irl/9102187/","projectTitle":"Creating Connections IRL","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Hawkins Smith","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp1479031_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1537034958119","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1479031"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_68328","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":1069,"numTeachers":64,"percentFrplEligible":16,"percentAsian":55,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":26,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":9,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"16.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":77.9,"schoolId":68328,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Stoller Middle School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Stoller Middle School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/oregon/beaverton-school-district/stoller-middle-school/68328"}
