I am writing to express my heartfelt gratitude for your generous contributions to my Donors Choose project at Stetson Hills Elementary School. Your support will have a profound impact on our students' educational journey, in the area of STEM.\r\n\r\nThanks to your kindness, we are now able to enhance our STEM education by giving the students a space to collaborate on our new STEM rug. When the students first saw the rug they were so excited to get to use it. By fostering an environment where students can design and build their own projects, we are cultivating creative problem-solving skills that are essential for their future success.\r\n\r\nMoreover, your donation will help us promote teamwork and communication through collaborative projects and activities. This collaborative spirit is crucial in preparing our students for careers in STEM-related fields, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to thrive in these areas.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is truly making a difference, and we are excited to see the positive outcomes that will emerge from this project.","fullyFundedDate":1754456287077,"projectUrl":"project/stem-lab-gets-a-face-lift/9449061/","projectTitle":"Stem Lab Gets a Face Lift!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Armentrout","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-5_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/1066068"},{"teacherId":1644590,"projectId":9109271,"letterContent":"I would like to thank you for your generous donations that enabled my students to have an amazing Earth Day experience. It's wonderful to see their creativity and imaginations soar.\r\n\r\nThe students were elated to see all the different items that we received through this project. Materials such as cardboard, tape, pipe cleaners, 3D printing filament, or even everyday objects allow students to prototype and test their designs, bridging the gap between theoretical concepts and practical application. These supplies enable hands-on exploration of critical engineering principles, such as structure, functionality, and efficiency. For instance, when tasked with building a bridge or designing a wind-powered vehicle, access to diverse materials encourages students to experiment with different solutions and iterate based on their results, fostering creativity and problem-solving skills.\r\n\r\nAdditionally, supplies play a crucial role in teaching students about the importance of resource management and constraints, which are integral to real-world engineering. By working with limited materials or specific design parameters, students learn to think critically about how to optimize their designs and prioritize functionality over excess. This mirrors professional engineering challenges, where cost, availability, and sustainability are key considerations. The process of manipulating supplies also helps to build fine motor skills and spatial awareness, providing a tactile and engaging way to understand complex concepts. In STEM education, having the right supplies transforms abstract lessons into dynamic, experiential learning opportunities, empowering students to think like engineers and innovate effectively.","fullyFundedDate":1713937966234,"projectUrl":"project/engineering-design-process/8315255/","projectTitle":"Engineering Design Process","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Allen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7556168_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1713231543730","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7556168"},{"teacherId":7556168,"projectId":8600215,"letterContent":"KEVA Planks have had a transformative impact on STEM classrooms, fostering creativity, collaboration, and critical thinking among students of all ages. These uniform wooden planks are versatile tools that encourage open-ended exploration in engineering, physics, and mathematics. By allowing students to design and build structures without the need for fasteners or connectors, KEVA Planks provide an accessible way to explore principles like balance, stability, and gravity. For example, students can test the limits of structural integrity or experiment with geometric patterns, deepening their understanding of spatial reasoning and problem-solving through hands-on experience.\r\n\r\nMoreover, KEVA Planks promote collaboration and teamwork in STEM learning. In group projects, students often work together to create complex structures, learning to communicate ideas effectively and divide tasks. These activities mirror real-world engineering challenges, where iteration and teamwork are essential. Beyond engineering, KEVA Planks can be integrated into cross-disciplinary lessons, such as using them to model natural phenomena or simulate architectural designs. This flexibility makes them an invaluable resource in modern classrooms, helping students develop a range of skills, from logical reasoning to artistic expression, in an engaging and supportive environment.","fullyFundedDate":1730322036940,"projectUrl":"project/keva-planks/8600215/","projectTitle":"Keva Planks","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Allen","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp7556168_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1713231543730","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/7556168"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_70459","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":937,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":14,"percentAsian":12,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":64,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":16,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":92.0,"schoolId":70459,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Stetson Hills Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Stetson Hills Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/arizona/deer-valley-unified-school-district/stetson-hills-elementary-school/70459"}
