My students were thrilled to have snacks that they liked, and also boosted their energy, allowing them to focus and progress throughout their day. \r\n\r\nAlot of my students are low income and depend on school food to get them through the day. I know many of them do not get to have a breakfast at home, and some arrive late to school after helping with their siblings, so they miss school breakfast. Having snacks and breakfast items has made sure they had something to carry them through the mornings. \r\n\r\nI was able to get a toaster and provide them with different options for food, as some of them are picky eaters or have sensory issues that cause them not to like certain foods. They were very thankful and enjoyed all the snacks. They lasted until the very end of the school year!\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\nWe appreciate you so much! Having a variety of seating arrangements for my students has helped increase classroom participation, support, and community. The students are able to do their work comfortably and enjoy independent reading on the couch, chair, and the carpet. Students are also using this area as a calm corner when it is not being used as a reading area. They are socializing and making great memories together in this beautiful space we created with your help! \r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the furniture and supplies they were so excited! They could not wait to sit on the couch and chair to try them out. They happily helped me rearrange items in the room and gave me ideas on where they should go. The students loved to be able to create a classroom they felt comfortable in! \r\n\r\nMy students will be finishing a novel and they are currently brainstorming ideas for a creative project and essay. Having an area where they can go when experiencing doubt and anxiety will help them get through these assignments. Some of them are even using the materials as props for their project, which is a reenactment of a scene in our book! They have both been having fun with the materials and learning how to use real scientific equipment, and how to collect and record data accurately in this process. Students not in my sports exercise class have seen the equipment, and have become interested in taking the class next year so that they can use it too!\r\n \r\nThey were excited and eager to get started using the materials right away, and that is just what happened. One student is conducting an experiment on grip strength, another on jump height and an individuals height. The spirometers have been used for two different independent experiments so far, one comparing volleyball and basketball players, and one comparing lung capacity in individuals with and without asthma or pre-existing lung conditions. None of this could have happened without all of your generous donations, which teachers rely on.
