When I presented students with games, I was pleasantly surprised that phones were no longer an issue. Students started talking to each other and even inviting other students to play a game with them. From building large Jenga towers to winning in Connect 4, cheers and groans were prevalent. Watching students get excited to learn a new game was such a highlight of my day. Many times, students would invite me to play with them which I did every opportunity. Did you know that many of my students had never played with Knex building sets or even blocks? I did not anticipate this so we had to incorporate how to explore and play before moving on to being able to demonstrate learning. \r\n\r\nKnex building sets are excellent for teaching/learning about angles, triangles, distances between 2 points, and many other concepts. After the activity, the students would often reference the Knex materials in explanations when solving problems. \r\n\r\nI am very excited to continue the use of these materials for the students in my classes this year.
