We are using the glue sticks, scissors, and markers daily as students create posters, timelines, and models to demonstrate their understanding of history, geography, and civic ideas. One recent project had students working in groups to design visual timelines of historical events, carefully cutting, labeling, and assembling their work to clearly show their thinking.\r\n\r\nWhen the materials first arrived, students were genuinely excited to use them. Many students noticed right away how helpful it was to have enough supplies for everyone, which allowed them to stay focused on their work instead of waiting or sharing. Having access to these materials made students feel prepared and confident, and it ensured that every student could participate fully.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these supplies will continue to support collaborative projects where students analyze sources, design presentations, and creatively share their learning. Project-based learning is a core part of our classroom, and your support ensures that all students including those from low-income households have equal access to the tools they need to succeed. Thank you for helping turn learning into an active, engaging experience that my students can take pride in.","fullyFundedDate":1766180612213,"projectUrl":"project/creative-social-studies-supplies/9962225/","projectTitle":"Creative Social Studies Supplies","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Whittaker","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9360303"},{"teacherId":6130448,"projectId":9713114,"letterContent":"These books in my classroom library has been such a game-changer! I love encouraging students to move away from constant technology and engage physically with materials. The supplies have been crucial in creating interactive games that enhance learning and foster positive interactions. Students thrive when they're engaged, and I've achieved 100% engagement this year. These games also allow me to assess students' understanding of the material. One example is a game called Showdown, where I or a student asks the group a question. They write their answers on dry-erase boards (using the markers you provided). When \"Showdown\" is called, they reveal their answers. I use this game across various subjects, including spelling and grammar skills. Students are less fearful of making mistakes and genuinely enjoy the process. Our classroom community is thriving, which isn't always the case elsewhere. Your donated materials have greatly supported students who lack supplies, preventing embarrassment and ensuring they can participate fully without falling behind.","fullyFundedDate":1755708365614,"projectUrl":"project/supplies-for-language-arts/9475813/","projectTitle":"Supplies for Language Arts","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Galloway","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6130448_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1725640129289","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6130448"},{"teacherId":6130448,"projectId":9315013,"letterContent":"Thank you for providing supplies for my Literacy and Language Arts classes. We utilize these materials daily, and your generosity has significantly reduced our expenses. I aim to minimize screen time, so the pens, pencils, sharpeners, and paper are invaluable. I often incorporate games into teaching and rely on notecards and markers for this purpose. For instance, in a game called Quiz-Quiz-Trade, students actively engage by moving around with index cards featuring Latin or Greek roots. They quiz each other, trade cards, and then quiz another student. This three-minute activity enhances their learning of roots far more effectively than worksheets. We create and play quite a few other learning games as well, but this is just one example of how necessary these supplies are to my active classes.\r\n\r\nI wish you could've seen my students' faces when I unboxed the materials! We use absolutely everything every single day. The cardstock has been essential in being able to make flash cards and game cards for our educational games. An example of one of these games is Quiz-Quiz-Trade. In this activity, students go from partner to partner quizzing each other on the Latin or Greek root and then trading cards to quiz someone else. Playing this game for just five minutes is far more effective than any worksheet or computer program because the kids are on their feet, thinking and responding in real-time.\r\n\r\nThe bands for the chairs have been excellent for fidgety students! They can put their feet on these bands and move them without distracting the whole class. Additionally, the chair slippers have made our loud classroom much quieter, allowing us to move chairs around without being too loud for the class below us.\r\n\r\nThe whiteboards and dry-erase markers enable spelling and short answer responses to be immediate, allowing for instant remediation when needed. The notebooks are amazing! When my students write in their notebooks, I gain insight into what they actually know—what they can spell, how they think, and how they write.
