The visual schedules have also helped reduce frustration and anxiety during transitions because students know what to expect next.\r\n\r\nAs a first-year special education teacher, this project meant so much to me and my students. As a dual language classroom we strive to be culturally competent and learn to practice acceptance of others. This project was a great way to teach students about the Lunar New year and the many different ways it is celebrated around the world. The students were able to have a hands on experience with the decorations and chopsticks. \r\nThe books that were also sent are a great way to expose students to this traditon and culture plus they are added to out culturally responsive book bins in our classroom. Students are able to practice their fluency and comprehension reading skills while learning of the Lunar New Year.
