Rather than learning something and moving on, students will be able to look back at the information throughout the year, make connections between lessons, and use the wall as a reference when they need additional support.\r\n\r\nI plan to print and laminate the materials myself as we progress through each CKLA unit. Because the Knowledge Wall requires quite a bit of color printing, I will build it little by little throughout the school year. This will allow me to make sure the wall grows along with my students learning and reflects the specific concepts and vocabulary we are working on at the time.\r\n\r\nI am especially excited about having this visual resource available for my second graders because it will encourage them to become more independent learners. Whether they need to remember a vocabulary word, review a concept, or make a connection to something we learned earlier, they will have a classroom resource they can refer to on their own.\r\n\r\nYour support is helping me create a classroom that is organized, engaging, and filled with meaningful learning supports. I originally planned to use the labels to number each student's mesh zipper pouch containing their whiteboard, marker, and eraser. Since I received more number labels than I needed for the pouches, I have also used them on my students backpack hooks and on the readers we use as part of our CKLA curriculum. This has already helped create a more organized system and will make it easier for students to find and take responsibility for their own materials.\r\n\r\nMy students are just beginning to see how these materials will become part of our daily routines, and I am excited to introduce the whiteboards as we begin our lessons. The goal is for students to use them during reading, writing, math, and problem-solving activities so they can actively show their thinking instead of simply listening or watching. I know my second graders will enjoy being able to write, draw, solve problems, and share their ideas in a hands on way.\r\n\r\nOne of our next steps will be getting students comfortable with our new material system. Each student will have a designated number, making it easy for them to locate their materials, use them responsibly, and return them when they are finished. As we begin using the whiteboards during our CKLA reading lessons and math activities, students will have opportunities to practice skills repeatedly without having to use additional paper.\r\n\r\nAlthough the project materials have only recently arrived, they are already helping me establish the organized and engaging classroom environment I hoped to create for my second graders. I am so grateful to my donors for making these resources possible and helping my students become more independent, organized, and active participants in their learning.
