The students of Sonia Sotomayor Middle School are deeply grateful for the supplies added to our student closet, which are needed daily to help them have a comfortable school day.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stood out was when one of our 7th graders said, \"Oh yes! My favorite pads! I usually can only get uncomfortable ones.\" To some, menstrual products may seem like a minor item, but to our girls, they are essential, allowing them to continue their school day with confidence and dignity.\r\n\r\nThanks to your donation, we have also been able to provide supplies to female staff members, creating safe spaces throughout the school where students can discreetly access what they need.\r\n\r\nIn addition to menstrual products, items such as deodorant have made a significant difference. We know that this age can be challenging; our students are still learning about themselves and their bodies, and they often rely on trusted adults at school to help guide them. I've had moments when a student quietly enters my room and whispers, asking if they can please have some deodorant. It's a chance for me to brighten up and say, \"Yes! We have some!\" Being able to relieve them of that worry brings me joy, and it's all thanks to the generous donations we've received.\r\n\r\nAs the weather gets warmer, the hygiene closet has become a vital part of our school environment. He immediately got to strumming his newly restrung guitar and happily told his friend next to him that he was glad he didn't have to mime playing his fifth and sixth strings anymore. He'd spent the past couple of weeks \"air plucking\" those two strings during warm-ups every class, and now he (as well as eight other students in our class) has one of my refurbished guitars.\r\n\r\nWe're about to leave basic tablature and transition into chords, which require the use of all six strings in some capacity. It's relatively easy to find tabs that only use the first three strings, but finding songs that don't use the low E or A strings in their chords is another story.\r\n\r\nWith these strings, my students can play their guitars the way they are meant to be played.","fullyFundedDate":1724808150953,"projectUrl":"project/ssms-bobcats-rock-on/8705647/","projectTitle":"Ssms Bobcats Rock On!","teacherDisplayName":"Mx.
