After reading the story a few times, I introduced the flannel board set for the children to retell the story. I used the display boards to make a house of straw, a house of sticks and a house of bricks. The children used the pig and wolf headbands and noses to act out the story. The children enjoyed these activities so much! The also love the STEM activity in the Discovery center. Because the children were so engaged in the story and retelling and acting it out, they became interested in the different version of the story. From books and puzzles to alphabet stamps, pencils, pencil cases, and a supply organizer, each item has already found its place in our classroom routine and has made a big difference.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the new books, their eyes lit up with excitement. They couldn't wait to dive into stories like \"Pete the Cat\" and \"Ohana Means Family\". Having access to engaging and diverse texts has encouraged even my most hesitant readers to pick up a book and explore. The puzzles and stamps have quickly become favorites during small-group literacy activities, giving students hands-on ways to practice letters and words while still having fun.\r\n\r\nOne moment that stands out happened during writing time. A student who often struggles with spelling used the alphabet stamps to \"build\" the words she wanted to write before transferring them into her notebook. She proudly shared her finished piece, beaming with confidence—something that wouldn't have been possible without these tools.\r\n\r\nThe supply organizer, pencils, and pencil cases have also made daily routines smoother. My students can now independently gather what they need, which helps maximize learning time and builds responsibility. Instead of worrying about not having materials, they are free to focus on their work and creativity.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, these resources will continue to support reading groups, writing projects, and hands-on literacy practice throughout the year. Your support has created a classroom environment where every child has the tools they need to succeed, and for that, I am deeply grateful.","fullyFundedDate":1750452196794,"projectUrl":"project/2nd-grade-learners/9394914/","projectTitle":"2nd Grade Learners!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Reid","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10049618_orig.jpg?crop=480,480,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758672475764","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10049618"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_80959","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":444,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":39,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":22,"percentWhite":35,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":27,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"9.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"SUBURBAN","ncesMetroType":"SUBURB_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":66.3,"schoolId":80959,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Somerdale Park Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Somerdale Park Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-jersey/somerdale-public-school-district/somerdale-park-elementary-school/80959"}
