I can't wait to transform my classroom into a wooded wonderland to display student art. \r\n\r\nMy students were inspired by your generosity to organize and teach art lessons to younger students! I loved seeing them interact with these younger students and encouraging them to experiment with their art. \r\n\r\nIn addition, the flexible seating you provided is already in use and beloved in my classroom. Another student mentioned that he has been having trouble selecting from among \"so many cool books.\" \r\n\r\nI love hearing comments like that from my students, and I love the quiet, excited hush of silent reading when students have books that excite them. That's the environment that you're bringing to my classroom. \r\n\r\nWhen the books arrived, I had a group of students in my room who are rather reading resistant. They jumped on the boxes, fanning out the books and showing them off to others. This is the excitement we need about reading in middle school. \r\n\r\nSo again, thank you for helping me serve my students. Because of your donations, I was able to run a \"Starbooks\" book tasting with my students, after which all of my students were able to submit 5 books they wanted to read and choose their own book. There was something for everyone, and student engagement with reading has never been higher. All my students are quiet during silent reading, and they talk excitedly about their chosen text during book groups. \r\n\r\nFor many, this is the first time they've read a book of choice, not one assigned to them, in a long time. I love watching their excitement grow and hearing them ask for sequels and where they can buy their own copies of their books. The students are getting each other excited, too. Many students are reading ahead and encouraging their group mates to do so. Some who read their books are rereading and discussing with their groups the new things they've noticed on the reread. My groups that started with graphic novels have enthusiastically moved on to chapter books.
