The students love the weekly file folder games we use for phonics centers and small groups. The activities are engaging, and students request to do them during their play workshop time. They can easily be shown in a small group and then become independent choices for students to continue to practice the reading foundational skills that will help them develop into lifelong readers. \r\n\r\nAdditionally, I was able to help a third-grade colleague who had a newcomer student who was an English Language Learner. The third grader benefited from the vocabulary file folder box. The paddle whiteboards have been used daily in our small groups to write our letters, write words, and write sentences. We even used them to play a class team-building game where we had to draw a picture on the whiteboard with it on our heads without looking and then show our partner to see if our picture resembled the one described. Thank you for making teaching fun for our students, and for providing materials that require little prep to help students succeed. We are very fortunate to have people like you invest in their education and the education of those in the future.","fullyFundedDate":1725979322679,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-the-reading-code/8446868/","projectTitle":"Unlocking the Reading Code!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Manning","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp3915773_272x272.png?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1528752543504","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/3915773"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_39670","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":370,"numTeachers":16,"percentFrplEligible":32,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":67,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":17,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":"23.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":89.7,"schoolId":39670,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Sinsheimer Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Sinsheimer Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/san-luis-coastal-unified-school-district/sinsheimer-elementary-school/39670"}
