Your generosity provided snacks for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade students at my school during the STAAR assessment. Your kindness played a huge role in helping our students feel supported, focused, and cared for during such an important and often stressful time.\r\n\r\nStandardized testing can be a long and mentally demanding experience for students. This year, several students tested from 8am-2:30pm, that is a long time for anyone to sit and focus, especially some of our youngest learners. Thanks to you, our test-takers were able to fuel their bodies and minds with healthy, energizing snacks that helped them stay alert and confident throughout the day. You wouldn't believe how many kids smiled when they received their snack bags — it was a small gesture that made a big difference.\r\n\r\nOne student said, \"I was really nervous, but when I got my snack, I felt better—like someone was cheering me on.\" That's exactly what your donation did: it reminded our students that they are supported and that their hard work matters.\r\n\r\nThank you again for helping our students do their very best! The supplies may seem simple but these materials have made a huge impact on both our learning environment and daily routines.\r\n\r\nThanks to your support, I've been able to create durable, reusable learning materials that will last all year (and beyond!). The laminating sheets and cardstock have helped me prep everything from center activities to classroom signs and student name tags. The magnetic and double-sided tape have made it so easy to display work, create interactive bulletin boards, and keep materials organized in a way that's accessible and engaging for my kindergartners. These materials are the things that we forget teachers need to make learning happen and typically come out of our own pockets.\r\n\r\nEven more importantly, your support helped keep our classroom clean and healthy. The Clorox wipes and Lysol spray have been essential in helping us prevent the spread of germs—especially in a room full of little ones who are still learning good hygiene habits. Because of you, we've been able to maintain a safe, fresh space where students feel comfortable and cared for.\r\n\r\nIt's amazing how much smoother and brighter each day runs because of these supplies. Thank you for supporting not just our learning but also our well-being. My students are so engaged and excited about the interactive lessons we're able to use. The materials are visually captivating and have really gathered their attention and helped them focus, which, anyone should know, is especially important in kindergarten!\r\n\r\nWe've already used TpT to enhance our handwriting lessons and to create personalized materials that meet my students' individual needs. It's been such a powerful tool to ensure that every student, whether they need extra support or a bit of a challenge, can thrive in our classroom. My students love having a mix of digital and hands-on activities.\r\n\r\nI've seen firsthand how much my students retain when they are not just sitting at a desk, completing a worksheet, but instead, actively participating in lessons on the Newline Display or their iPads. They're moving, writing, and engaging in ways that make learning feel fun and memorable. One of my favorite moments was when the kids eagerly gathered around the display to write their own sentences, taking turns with their classmates and celebrating their work as a group. They're not just learning; they're making memories that will stay with them.\r\n\r\nThank you for making this possible. You've helped bring our classroom to life, and we are so excited for all the lessons ahead. Their eyes lit up, and several of them immediately asked, \"Can we write on it today?!\" It was like opening a present on a holiday morning — they couldn't wait to get their hands on it. In kindergarten, excitement like that is magical, and it's all thanks to your generosity.\r\n\r\nWe use the easel every single day. Whether we're practicing our letter formations or brainstorming ideas together, the easel gives us the space and flexibility we desperately needed after our main whiteboard was mostly covered by the new technology display. The students love being called up to the easel! It has become a special part of our routine and a positive way to motivate opportunity for them to practice their fine motor skills and keeps them engaged.\r\n\r\nOne of my favorite moments so far has been during our \"Write the Room\" activity. I placed the easel in our reading corner, and students rotated through, writing sight words they found in books directly onto the board. It created such a natural, interactive learning moment. My students were so focused and even better, proud of their work.\r\n\r\nRight now, we're working on writing simple sentences with correct spacing and punctuation. The easel has been a perfect tool to model these skills in a large, clear space where everyone can see and participate. It's helping bridge the gap between group instruction and independent work, giving students the confidence to try things on their own.\r\n\r\nThank you again for investing in our classroom. Your gift didn't just provide a piece of furniture — it gave my students opportunities to learn, grow, and succeed in ways that truly matter.","fullyFundedDate":1672445775255,"projectUrl":"project/interactive-learning-without-technology/6898170/","projectTitle":"Interactive Learning Without Technology!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Wise","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5534981_orig.jpg?crop=3984,3984,x185,y142&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1744691187807","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5534981"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_9590","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":454,"numTeachers":47,"percentFrplEligible":59,"percentAsian":2,"percentBlack":5,"percentWhite":31,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":59,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.7:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_SMALL"},"inStateSupporters":66.8,"schoolId":9590,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Silver Lake Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Silver Lake Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/grapevine-colleyville-ind-sd/silver-lake-elementary-school/9590"}
