As I pulled out the new bows, many students expressed their excitement that they could finally get a new bow. Many of our old bows were missing significant amounts of hair, could no longer be tightened enough to play, or were poor quality. Seeing these brand-new bows fresh from the plastic was a huge moment for them. \r\n\r\nSince receiving the bows, we have been able to focus on other aspects of musicality such as correct posture, bow grip, and tone production, without fighting broken equipment. Beyond the technical benefits, it gave a boost to students' confidence in themselves and pride in their music program. With new bows in hand, my students are ready to tackle higher-level music and increase our range of articulations, bow techniques, and dynamic range. \r\n\r\nWe put several of these new bows to good use on a public stage - our Festival Performance at Six Flags. Around january -we start to get low on supplies so this project came right in time! \r\n\r\nHaving access to what we need helps us keep playing our best during rehearsal. Having extra on hand helps me ensure all musicians can quickly get a new string and keep playing rather than wait for strings to come in to replace.
