The photos I've shared capture an exciting experiment day, where students worked in groups, tested their own ideas, and discovered firsthand how science doesn't always produce the same results—sparking curiosity and meaningful discussions about real-world phenomena.\r\n\r\nYour generosity also made a difference for my advanced students in science projects. Thanks to the supplies funded by donors like you, several of our building projects were successfully completed and even taken to a science competition! Through Anne's words, they gained a deeper understanding of history, empathy, and literary elements. This text brought history to life, encouraged critical thinking, and allowed students to reflect on the power of storytelling in shaping our understanding of the past.\r\n\r\nOne of the most significant effects of reading Anne's diary was the development of empathy. Students connected with Anne as a real person—an ordinary teenager experiencing extraordinary circumstances. Her thoughts on family, friendships, fear, and hope resonated with them, making historical events feel more personal and emotionally impactful. Many students expressed that they had never truly considered what it would feel like to live in hiding or face persecution simply for being who they are.\r\n\r\nPerhaps the most meaningful outcome of teaching The Diary of a Young Girl was the personal growth I witnessed in my students. Many shared that Anne's story made them appreciate their own lives and freedoms more deeply. Others said they were inspired to start journaling or to stand up for those who face discrimination. Anne's words, written decades ago, continue to teach valuable lessons about resilience, hope, and the importance of remembering history.\r\n\r\nTeaching The Diary of a Young Girl was more than just a literature unit—it was an experience that shaped my students' perspectives, deepened their empathy, and strengthened their critical thinking skills. Through Anne's voice, they not only learned about history and writing but also about the power of human resilience and the importance of standing against injustice.","fullyFundedDate":1735585972880,"projectUrl":"project/unlocking-history-bringing-anne-frank/8847240/","projectTitle":"\"Unlocking History: Bringing Anne Frank's Diary to Our Classroom\"","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Damm","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-8_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9282054"},{"teacherId":9727367,"projectId":8735483,"letterContent":"On behalf of Sidney Middle School Library, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks for your generous donation towards our Accelerated Reading End-of-the-year Celebration. The anticipation of winning amazing prizes has inspired them to read more, take more AR tests, and aim higher in their academic achievements. We are thrilled to share that, after announcing the prizes in the first quarter, we've already seen a remarkable 20% increase in the number of students reading more and actively participating in the program.\r\n\r\nYour generosity is not only helping us reward students for their hard work, but also contributing to their growth as lifelong readers. The students were thrilled to read Frazzled by Booki Vivat.\r\n\r\nThis book was an ideal choice for our incoming 6th graders. At the start of the school year, many of them were new to middle school and transitioning from elementary school. They were nervous about navigating the school, remembering locker combinations, and being the youngest grade level in the building. As they began their 2024-2025 year, they were feeling quite frazzled.\r\n\r\nAlthough we didn't receive the books until October, I decided to have the students read Frazzled right before winter break. After finishing the book, they created compare-and-contrast charts to reflect on their own experiences. They compared their initial feelings of uncertainty with how they feel now about being in middle school. The charts provided a clear visual of how much their confidence has grown. The students agreed that their initial worries were unnecessary and that being in middle school is actually a lot of fun!\r\n\r\nMoving forward, I plan to start every school year by reading Frazzled.","fullyFundedDate":1725030178096,"projectUrl":"project/she-is-starting-middle-school-and-feelin/8685699/","projectTitle":"She is starting Middle School and feeling Frazzled!","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Mueller","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-6_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9695410"},{"teacherId":9696316,"projectId":8687437,"letterContent":"Students have been using the balsa wood and glue to make various types of towers and test them.
