Our students were able to enjoy and are still enjoying books by Filipino American authors, stories about Filipinos and opening windows and doors to those who had little knowledge of the Filipino American story.\r\n\r\nThese books opened up conversation and opportunities to connect during our Filipino American History month and the stories continue to spread even beyond the month of October. One book in particular - The Patron Saints of Nothing was so popular that it is now part of a grade level book club.\r\n\r\nI am so excited to that these books and long lasting and will outlast just a school year. For example, the Filipino cook book was used by our culinary arts program and they highlighted the cuisine of Filipinos in one of their units of study. \r\n\r\nWe are grateful for books likes these to tell stories of those whose stories are often to heard and thankful that you were able to give our students (and families) access to this great literature.","fullyFundedDate":1760117167614,"projectUrl":"project/halo-halo-reading-mix/9786787/","projectTitle":"Halo-Halo: Reading Mix","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Fresco","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/272x272/tp477_272x272.jpg?width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1483566260601","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-frescogifford"},{"teacherId":3196154,"projectId":9253847,"letterContent":"I am deeply grateful for your generous support in providing fidget toys for our high school science classrooms. This year, with the implementation of a new cell phone ban, your contribution has made a significant impact on our students' ability to stay focused and engaged during lessons. The fidget toys offer an outlet for restless energy, helping students channel their attention towards their studies. By reducing distractions and promoting active participation, these tools have created a more productive learning environment, allowing students to dive deeper into their studies with improved concentration and enthusiasm.\r\nYour donation also supports our curriculum exploring how addiction affects the brain, a topic that resonates strongly with our students in today's world. The fidget toys serve as a practical tool to help students manage impulses and maintain focus while learning about the neurological impacts of addiction, fostering both academic and personal growth.
