The spinner chairs were the first thing they noticed, and they immediately began taking turns using them. These chairs have been a wonderful addition as they provide sensory support and have allowed more students to visit our classroom to take breaks and self-regulate in a calm and engaging way. It has created a more inclusive and welcoming space for everyone.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic letters and sentence strips have brought new energy to our small-group reading time. Students who used to shy away from reading now eagerly participate because they can manipulate the letters, build words, and physically move pieces around to show their thinking. The large Pop-Its have been an even bigger hit because they have turned word blending and segmenting practice into a game the whole group looks forward to. Hearing my students laugh and cheer while learning has been such a joy.\r\n\r\nAs we move forward, these materials will continue to play a key role in our literacy lessons and sensory breaks. The students are building confidence in their reading skills and learning how to self-regulate using the tools you made possible. Thank you for helping create a space where learning is hands-on, meaningful, and fun for every child who walks through our door.","fullyFundedDate":1753104764969,"projectUrl":"project/a-welcoming-calm-classroom-for-all-abil/9416899/","projectTitle":"A Welcoming, Calm Classroom for All Abilities","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Taylor","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9086700_orig.jpg?crop=993,993,x0,y370&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1688000063548","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/mrs-ttaylor"},{"teacherId":772171,"projectId":9248547,"letterContent":"Thank you more than words can say for your donation towards purchasing the items I was able to purchase for my students. They loved being able to wear the bracelets outside and see them change color in the sunlight, and use the bubbles and bubble wands on one of our last days together. \r\n\r\n I was also able to purchase the book, I Wish You More for every student in my class. I spent some time writing notes inside every book and my students were so very happy to receive the books and notes. The donation you gave towards my classroom enabled me to buy several decodable readers for students, and my students were very excited when we received them. Those decodables have already helped to make a difference for my students as readers!\r\n\r\n Students are introduced to a new sound and the spelling of that sound in small group. Then they practice applying that knowledge in the decodable books that were purchased with this project. Students think the books are funny, and they enjoy reading them. The books are giving my students the chance to be successful and confident readers, and in that success they are growing as readers. One of the biggest highlights has been the swivel chairs, our students absolutely love them! These chairs have become an essential part of our daily routine, not only as a reward for completing work but also as a much-needed sensory tool when students feel overwhelmed. Whether they need a break or just a way to stay engaged while learning, the chairs provide comfort and movement that help regulate their emotions and focus. \r\n\r\nThe excitement on their faces when they first saw the chairs was priceless. Many of them immediately gravitated toward them, testing them out and expressing their excitement. Now, they are a constant request in the classroom. It has been amazing to see how something as simple as a chair can make such a big difference in their ability to self-regulate and participate in learning. With these resources in place, we are continuing to work on structured breaks and self-regulation strategies that help our students manage their emotions and remain engaged throughout the day. \r\n\r\nYour generosity has truly enhanced our classroom, making it a more inclusive and supportive space for all of our students. They have enjoyed me reading to them, and then giving them an opportunity to read or look at the books later.\r\n They loved listening to Balloons Over Broadway: The True Story of the Puppeteer of Macy's Parade, and it made it even more fun when they got to create their own \"balloons\"! In 1st grade, students lose several teeth so they laughed and thoroughly enjoyed me read I Lost My Tooth!-An Unlimited Squirrels Book. Chairs on Strike is a funny book, but it also reminded my students of the importance of taking care of things, and instead of me having to remind them frequently to \"be safe by putting your chair down on all fours\", I can just say, \"I hope our chairs don't go on strike\". \r\n These read alouds are providing many opportunities for my students and I to have meaningful discussions and learn new vocabulary, as well as for my students to be able to hear what fluent reading sounds like.
