The rug creates a defined, comfortable area for whole-group instruction and small-group work where students know what to expect and feel secure; this has made transitions smoother and circle time more focused. The stress balls provide an accessible, discrete sensory tool that students can use to self-regulate when they feel anxious or overwhelmed, which has led to fewer outbursts and quicker returns to learning. Together these items have improved students' ability to attend, participate, and engage in routines that previously caused frustration.\r\n\r\nThe magnetic blocks have added a hands-on, open-ended learning option that supports fine motor skills, spatial reasoning, creativity, and cooperative play. Students who struggle with traditional paper-and-pencil tasks are now demonstrating problem-solving, communication, and persistence through building and collaborative projects; the blocks are excellent for differentiated, multi-sensory instruction that meets varied ability levels. As a result, I'm seeing more peer interaction, better turn-taking, and increased confidence during academic stations and free-choice time. We are incredibly grateful to the donor — their gift directly enhances both the social-emotional well-being and the academic growth of our special education classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1756484840191,"projectUrl":"project/1st-year-special-education-classroom/9380975/","projectTitle":"1st Year Special Education Classroom","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Ray","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp5069804_orig.png?crop=1544,1545,x0,y97&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748356390372","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/5069804"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_47508","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":39,"numTeachers":6,"percentFrplEligible":90,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":17,"percentWhite":79,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":0,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Not specified","studentTeacherRatio":"6.5:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":95.5,"schoolId":47508,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Shady Grove School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Shady Grove School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/missouri/missouri-department-of-education/shady-grove-school/47508"}
