The resources provided through this project give students tools they can use when they are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, distracted, or simply need a moment to reset.\r\n\r\nStudents now have access to materials that support self-regulation, focus, and positive behavior. These resources help them calm their bodies, express their feelings appropriately, and return to classroom activities ready to participate and learn. I have noticed that having these supports readily available allows me to better meet students' individual needs while also helping them become more independent in managing their emotions.\r\n\r\nMost importantly, this project has helped create a space where students know they are safe, supported, and cared for. My students love our dragon theme! We have completed 3 weeks of the school year and each week has been filled with dragon tales. I have used the books to help students learn how to behave, how to listen, and follow directions. The books from this project have made students laugh and wonder at the same time. \r\nThe library decor has been a hit with the students and has prompted lots of questions. The flying kite dragons over head is a fun way to brighten up our library space. All of the decorations from this project has enlightened my students and peaked their curiosity. As we begin our library procedures, students will get to enjoy having dragon plushies as a reading partner. The students really love seeing new books hit the shelf. The Book Tasting was a great lead in to share these titles with the students. The books from this project were paired with some of our other favorites to ensure we had plenty to serve up! \r\nEach of our 15 classes rotated through the library during the event week. All students were welcomed with inviting displays, cafe style setting, snacks, and of course books. The students were able to sample fiction, nonfiction, biographical, and fairy tale books. I believe that as students picked up books to preview they were also deeply inspired by each title to read more. They were at awe of how much people care about our school, and our community. The large capacity cooler has been a hit. We are able to keep our drinks cool and on-hand for events at our school. I can foresee a lot more use of this items for years to come. \r\nFor our students having cold drinks means a lot. When given a choice, they elected to have a cold drink over the room temperature drinks. During our community book fair, parents were able to come in and shop and enjoy a special drink and treat. Since a lot of our treats are breakfast related. The students want to provide students that are late for school some of those items. These items are coming in handy especially during early morning arrivals. I think in the future a lot more emphasis will be placed on the drinks when the weather is hot.
