One of their most preferred ways to engage with me, is to read books together, so I knew they would be so happy to see our new collection. They loved unboxing the books with me and were equally excited for each package we received. \r\n\r\nNot only has reading the books contributed to more whole class engagement, but they have been able to be used to supplement our social emotional learning lessons. We were even able to use a posted included with one of our books to display in our calm down area. It allows my students to show their emotions if they are unable to verbalize them. When this happens, I have a better idea of how to support them in the moment. \r\n\r\nOne of their favorite books so far has been Have You Filled a Bucket Today? They had a great time working as a group to come up with ways they could fill the buckets of everyone in their lives. After this, we worked together to make a craft tying into this book and lesson. I am so grateful to have the chance to create these meaningful and impactful opportunities to interact with my students, have fun together, and teach them important life skills and lessons. Together we can create a better world.","fullyFundedDate":1746472629926,"projectUrl":"project/grow-our-classroom-library/9227917/","projectTitle":"Grow our Classroom Library","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Charles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9925837"},{"teacherId":9925837,"projectId":9117367,"letterContent":"My students are having great success in our classroom this year with their new visual boundaries. I'm so grateful to have the opportunity to support my students this way, as it opens doors for us to be able to focus on other important skills. \r\n\r\nWhen students know what is expected of them, they have a better chance for success. If they aren't sure what they should be doing or where they should be, they are unaware of if they're doing something they shouldn't. Because students with autism often struggle with things like wandering, it is important they know where they should be, so they can be successful. Your resources allow this. \r\n\r\nNot only is our rug used to show them where to be during circle time, but we now also use it during other times of the day, like small group work. Our privacy walls also provide insight into where they should and should not be during other points of the day. One of the greatest examples of this is creating privacy for students who need to opportunity to deescalate. This keeps other students from interfering. It has been a great help in our classroom so far this year!","fullyFundedDate":1746785703229,"projectUrl":"project/visual-boundary-support/9117367/","projectTitle":"Visual Boundary Support","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Charles","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9925837"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_18948","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":609,"numTeachers":27,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":3,"percentWhite":60,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":30,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 4","studentTeacherRatio":"22.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"TOWN","ncesMetroType":"TOWN_DISTANT"},"inStateSupporters":71.4,"schoolId":18948,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Seymour - Redding Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Seymour - Redding Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/indiana/seymour-community-school-district/seymour-redding-elementary-school/18948"}
