Our students are now regularly using the new resources to develop their fine and gross motor skills in ways that are both educational and fun. One of the most memorable classroom moments so far was watching students navigate an obstacle course we set up using colorful floor mats, stepping stones, and balance beams. It was amazing to see them engaged—hopping, crawling, and balancing—all while unknowingly strengthening their coordination and muscle control. Not only are they developing essential physical skills, but they're also learning how to follow directions, take turns, and encourage one another.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the lab and materials, their excitement was contagious. Their eyes lit up at the sight of the vibrant equipment, and many immediately asked, \"Can we go play in there now?\" Some even helped unbox the supplies and began brainstorming ways to use each item. Their enthusiasm was especially evident as they eagerly participated in the first few sessions, working hard while laughing, moving, and collaborating with their peers. The lab has quickly become a favorite space in the school, with students often asking to visit and teachers noticing improvements in attention and behavior following their time in the motor lab.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, our goal is to create a more structured and collaborative experience in the Motion Zone. We plan to partner closely with our occupational therapist to design clear, purposeful stations throughout the lab—each with defined goals and expectations. These stations will focus on key motor skills and be adaptable to meet individual student needs. Additionally, our teachers are set to receive training on how to effectively integrate motor lab activities into their lesson plans and daily routines. With this team approach, we are confident that the lab will not only support physical development but also enhance focus, emotional regulation, and overall student success across the school day.\r\n\r\nWe are incredibly grateful to the generous donors who made the Motion Zone motor lab possible. Your support has directly impacted the lives of our students, providing them with opportunities to grow, move, and thrive in an environment designed just for them. The excitement, joy, and progress we've seen so far would not have been possible without your contribution. Thanks to you, our students have a space where learning feels like play and where every movement is a step toward greater confidence and success. From all of us at Schulenburg Elementary—thank you for believing in our kids and investing in their growth.","fullyFundedDate":1739547546447,"projectUrl":"project/motion-zone-motor-lab/8882003/","projectTitle":"Motion Zone Motor Lab","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Svatek","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6015516_orig.jpg?crop=1900,1900,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1728565201427","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6015516"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_13900","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":274,"numTeachers":28,"percentFrplEligible":79,"percentAsian":1,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":34,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":45,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 5","studentTeacherRatio":"9.8:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":13900,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Schulenburg Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Schulenburg Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/schulenburg-independent-school-district/schulenburg-elementary-school/13900"}
