My students, who are in Title I schools, are always in need of resources to support their learning. From the stress relief and sensory items, such as the chair bands and stress balls, to the cleaning supplies to help us maintain a healthy environment, my students and I are so thankful for donors like you. The graphic novel is something I am especially excited to introduce to my students in the spring who don't exactly love reading, but love cartoons and illustrations. I am hoping it will spark curiosity about print media that will lead to a love of reading. \r\n\r\nAn item my students were especially excited about are the Schoolmate Deluxe Stereo/Mono Headphones w/ Volume Control. These headphones allow students to focus on their independent tasks with minimal distractions due to the noise cancelling feature they provide. They are comfortable and sturdy, and exactly the type of headphones needed for my students. With resources like these, my students feel confident in working hard on their academic and therapy tasks. \r\n\r\nOnce again, thank you so much for your thoughtfulness and generosity for donating to my project. You have supported kids who experience many challenges in their daily life, and have made their time spent during speech therapy even more rewarding.","fullyFundedDate":1760543533221,"projectUrl":"project/speech-therapy-essentials/9816695/","projectTitle":"Speech Therapy Essentials!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Kylie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10308509_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1760193308837","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10308509"},{"teacherId":9494687,"projectId":9834177,"letterContent":"The donation of the xylophone has had an immediate and meaningful impact on our 6–12th grade band program. Students are using it daily as part of our percussion rotations and ensemble work, particularly when learning mallet technique, note reading, and ensemble balance. One especially memorable moment came during a recent rehearsal when a group of younger students worked together to perform a simple melodic ostinato while the upper-grade band layered harmonies around them. The xylophone allowed students who might not normally have a featured role to contribute a clear, confident melodic voice to the ensemble.\r\n\r\nWhen the students first saw the xylophone, their reaction was pure excitement and curiosity. Many gathered around it, eager to try it out and ask questions about how it worked and how it would be used in performances. Several students who had never considered percussion as their primary instrument immediately expressed interest, and others were thrilled to finally have access to a high-quality melodic instrument they had only seen in videos or at other schools. That sense of ownership and pride was evident right away and has carried over into more focused practice and collaboration.\r\n\r\nThanks to this new resource, our next steps include expanding our repertoire to include more mallet-focused pieces and small ensemble work across grade levels. Students are currently working on applying proper mallet grip, stroke technique, and musical phrasing in preparation for an upcoming performance, while older students are beginning to mentor younger players during sectional rehearsals. The xylophone has opened new creative and instructional possibilities, and your generosity continues to shape meaningful musical experiences for our students every day.","fullyFundedDate":1760812335198,"projectUrl":"project/percussion-funding/9834177/","projectTitle":"Percussion Funding","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Sandberg","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp9494687_orig.png?crop=1078,1079,x0,y0&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1748890669787","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9494687"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_18777","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":708,"numTeachers":49,"percentFrplEligible":47,"percentAsian":14,"percentBlack":14,"percentWhite":41,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":22,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"6 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"14.4:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":60.1,"schoolId":18777,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about School of the Future on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"School of the Future","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/new-york/new-york-city-dept-of-ed/school-of-the-future/18777"}
