Students gathered around the supplies, curious and eager to start using the tools. For many, it was their first time seeing a binding machine or understanding how loose pages could be turned into a professional-looking book. The reaction was priceless, eyes wide, lots of \"oohs\" and \"wows,\" and immediate questions about how it all worked.\r\nWe began by creating personal art sketchbooks where students utilize to do their daily art sketches and brainstorm new designs. The students really took ownership and pride in their work and has been a huge motivator in class.\r\nLooking ahead, we are excited to wrap up the year by binding all of our artwork into individual art portfolios. Each student will take home a complete collection of their creative journey this year, something they can keep, share with family, and look back on with pride.\r\nYour support has truly elevated our classroom. By giving us the ability to bind our art together, you've helped us turn learning into lasting, tangible memories. Here's why they might be making reading so much more exciting for your students:\r\n\r\nFresh and Relevant Content: New books often reflect more current interests, trends, and issues that students care about. Whether it's books that deal with topics they can relate to or ones that are just trending in popular culture, new content can make reading feel more engaging.\r\n\r\nVariety & Choice: Having a variety of new books allows students to pick what they're truly interested in, which makes the reading experience more enjoyable. If they find books they like, they'll be more excited to read, and the act of choosing a book themselves can make them feel more empowered and invested in their reading.\r\n\r\nModern Storytelling: New books tend to have fresh writing styles, unique voices, and dynamic storytelling techniques that keep readers on their toes. These books might be written in a way that feels more relatable and energetic, which can draw in students who might not have been as engaged with older, more traditional texts.\r\n\r\nVisual Appeal: New books often come with updated covers, illustrations, or layouts that catch students' attention. A visually appealing book can spark curiosity and make reading feel more fun. Especially with graphic novels or books with cool illustrations, it can feel more like an immersive experience.\r\n\r\nIncreased Motivation: When students see that their classroom library is updated with new books, it can create excitement around reading as a whole. There's often a buzz when new books are introduced, and that energy can spread, encouraging everyone to dive into something new.\r\n\r\nOwnership of the Reading Experience: If students feel like the books are chosen for them or are of a high standard, they're more likely to take pride in reading. This helps foster a sense of ownership and pride in their literacy development.","fullyFundedDate":1716396861193,"projectUrl":"project/read-read-and-keep-reading/8412230/","projectTitle":"Read, Read, and Keep Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Olvera","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8992200_orig.jpg?crop=960,960,x0,y416&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1679760180260","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8992200"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_127987","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":420,"numTeachers":null,"percentFrplEligible":69,"percentAsian":5,"percentBlack":15,"percentWhite":12,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":64,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"Pre-K - 6","studentTeacherRatio":null,"demographicsDataSource":"MDR District Weighted Average","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":null},"inStateSupporters":52.0,"schoolId":127987,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about School of Science & Technical - Bayshore on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"School of Science & Technical - Bayshore","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/texas/texas-department-of-education/school-of-science-and-technology-bayshore/127987"}
