Each student has their own \"apple\" to sit on, and we can easily assemble in a circle for Morning Meeting. Students love to relax on the rug to read a book, play a math game with a partner, lie on their back to do mindfulness exercises, lie on their bellies and practice their heart words on whiteboards, or spread out to watch Wild Kratts. When the students first saw the cookie shop, their faces lit up with pure joy. They immediately began assigning roles—bakers, decorators, customers—and the room buzzed with imaginative play. Students worked together to \"mix\" ingredients, design colorful cookies, and proudly run their pretend bakery. It was the perfect example of how open-ended materials spark creativity, collaboration, and meaningful learning in our classroom.\r\nThe excitement doesn't stop there! In the coming months, students are eager to explore the veterinarian's office, flower shop, and farmers market. Every morning, they come in ready to dive into STEM activities that encourage them to build, invent, and use their imaginations.
