They are always wanting to spend more time in our classroom library reading. They enjoy the cozy setting and I have seen great improvement in our classroom reading skills. The students have already earned over 75 Accelerated Reader points. \r\nIn my classroom students have silent reading time right when they get to school. They also have the chance to take A.R. tests daily on the books they read. Students are working towards individually earning 75 A.R. points to make the A.R. Hall of Fame at the end of the school year. We also do daily reading lessons where we read texts in our reading curriculum that focus on a variety of topics. The students really enjoy any type of reading. Right now we are reading a historical fiction book. I start my students reading historical fiction then transition them into reading biographies. The books that you donated to our classroom are going to be the perfect transition in to students reading biographies about historical figures. The students will also be able to use these texts to write a report on the historical figure of their choosing. Thank you so much for donating to our classroom and enhancing our students love of reading.","fullyFundedDate":1755692769264,"projectUrl":"project/classroom-library-update/9506903/","projectTitle":"Classroom Library Update","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Peters","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-1_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9709401"},{"teacherId":9748302,"projectId":8778865,"letterContent":"My students and I were so excited to receive a new sewing machine, along with the cutting tools to cut our fabric. My students were so excited to be able to learn how to sew and my sixth graders, who got to sew last year, have been loving the new sewing machine and being able to have more than one person cutting fabric at a time. \r\n\r\nWe are using these new materials to make pillows. Each student has been able to make two pillows, one to give away for Christmas and one to keep for themselves. My students have been so excited to be able to sew a gift for someone. They have been trying to decide who to give their pillows to since we started. Some students who had extra time and fabric even made an extra pillow for their younger sibling or new baby cousin. It has been wonderful seeing how excited they are to being giving someone a pillow for Christmas. They have been saying things like \"they are going to love this\" and \"can we do this again next year\". \r\n\r\nSome other projects that my students can look forward to this year are making light-up cards using copper tape, a watch battery, and LED lights and making their own board games. Making light-up cards is a fun way to introduce students to circuits and I love seeing their creativity when they design their own board games. \r\n\r\nThank you so much for your generosity, my students and I really appreciate it!","fullyFundedDate":1726424401863,"projectUrl":"project/it-is-sew-much-fun-making-pillows/8778865/","projectTitle":"It Is Sew-Much Fun Making Pillows","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Osterman","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-2_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9748302"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_78675","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":95,"numTeachers":7,"percentFrplEligible":4,"percentAsian":0,"percentBlack":0,"percentWhite":95,"percentIndigenous":1,"percentLatinx":1,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"K - 8","studentTeacherRatio":"13.6:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":false,"titleOne":false,"metroType":"RURAL","ncesMetroType":"RURAL_REMOTE"},"inStateSupporters":100.0,"schoolId":78675,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Savage Elementary School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Savage Elementary School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/montana/savage-school-district-7-2/savage-public-school/78675"}
