It's a powerful tool for social-emotional learning, teamwork, and building a safe, inclusive community. Twice a week, students come together—not just to play, but to practice sportsmanship, collaboration, and communication. For many of our students, this is the first time they've found a space where they feel safe to be themselves, take healthy risks, and connect with peers they may not typically interact with during the school day.\r\n\r\nWhile many of our donors use technology at home, what's happening here is something truly special. This isn't just screen time—it's structured, purposeful learning that helps students build focus, resilience, and strategic thinking. Through e-sports, our students are not only having fun, but also practicing critical SEL skills in real-time: managing emotions, setting goals, and resolving conflicts constructively.\r\n\r\nThe most exciting part? Students who were once quiet, disconnected, or hesitant to join group activities are now showing up early, leading teams, and encouraging one another. In the morning students are responsible for coming into the classroom, taking out the chargers and plugging them in. At the end of the day the students are responsible for shutting down the computers, collecting the chargers and putting them away.
